Ark, have you tryied to contact Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Maryland? golden retriever rescue of southern maryland They may have a foster willing to work with him.
The pictures made me wish I had room for one more, but the husband thinks 2 dogs and 2 kids under three are enough for now

Some people view dogs as belonging outside.
In my experience, many times it's the man of the household that wants critters to stay outside.

Ok I sent them an email, but my experience with the rescues is the same as most others, usually I don't hear back from them. Let's hope this time is different. I realize that they are usually volunteers, and get over-whelmed. If they can't help I hope they reply to say so.

The Golden Retriever rescue has a lot of volunteers and foster homes. Being such a popular and mostly easy going dog, they also have a lot of adoptions. Good group, very organized and I am happy to hear they responded so fast

I hope they say he looks enough like a Golden to help him. They want better pictures to determine that.

I wish I could "like" this post a thousand times more!! WTG Arkie!! Having an Alaskan Malamute with about 100 lbs of fur on her, I know how that dog must have felt in this heat with all that fur.

I'm very happy for all parties involved. It sounded like the owners did care about the dog, and were concerned for its well-being and emotional happiness. Their family increased by 2 while they had the dog (I think she said she already had 2 at the time the dog was acquired), and it was getting difficult for them to manage. So this was best for all concerned.
