Well, I knew I would get slack for this one............... Stuffed ham was a recipe to prolong the life of the ham and greens...ie... preservation.. because there was no refrigeration on the ships coming over from England, which in turn are the people who settled SOMD. I was just saying, now that we have refrigeration, we should have no need to eat stuffed ham? I know it's a way of life, I get it. I was just saying, because I personally think it is not very good, but I can start a who likes stuffed ham forum for that.............If I am wrong please let me know?

Ham was(is) smoked or salted to preserve it.


If stuffing it was a preservation method, it would be a common practice on the east coast, not just somd
