A friend of mine just told me that she lets her child eat ice cream for breakfast, with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. The justification was that it was banana ice cream, so it's like having milk and bananas.

Should I say something to her about this or let it go?

... is it an every day thing or a once in a great while because baby is having a temper tantrum and you'd rather not fight today thing?

If it's an every day thing, I'd probably say something.

Sounds to me like someone forgot who is the child and who is the parent in that house.

Hmmmm..

In 10 years she'll have a 350 lb teenager and wondering WHY!?? "It must be genetic."

Good and bad habits are taught at an early age, I can see this one being nothing but trouble for their health.

I think I would have said something, but that's just me.

One of my girlfriends lets her daughter eat the shortbread girl scout cookies spread w/ butter and sweet tea for breakfast :dead:

I have mentioned it to her that it may not be the healthiest thing for her, but I always get the song and dance that she is such a picky eater that she is just glad she is eating

You should ask her why we weren't invited over for this delicious breakfast.

Let it go. Aren't you always jumping on people for forcing their parenting style on everyone else? (Cowgirl's car seat thread comes to mind )

You should have slapped her and then told her that was like a hug
:roflmao:

You should say something because banana ice cream is just no way to treat a child - not when you have Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie. I am ashamed to know someone who knows someone who would do such a horrible thing to a child.

Boy does that crap all the time "Why can't I have Ice Cream, it is milk and eggs right?". He just did it this morning. I was so pizzed I smooshed out my cigarette, blew smoke in his face and told him to shut the hell up and eat his Twinkies and drink his Redbull or I was going to take away the 5 foot long pixie sticks he packed for snack.

My dad never shared his cigarrete smoke with me. You are such a good dad. :huggy:

With all that sugar, I'll bet that child's teacher has a difficult time calming her down to pay attention to the classroom activities.

This mother is doing this kid no good with that kind of diet, but then again, she is the mother...regardless if she's setting her up for a lifetime of bad meal choices.
