The most common ingredient in meth is pseudoephedrine or ephedrine, commonly found in cold medicine. Through a cooking process the pseudoephedrine or ephedrine is chemically changed into meth. The ingredients that are used in the process of making meth can include: ether, paint thinner, Freon, acetone, anhydrous ammonia, iodine crystals, red phosphorus, drain cleaner, battery acid, and lithium (taken from inside batteries)

It is believed, although never proven with scientific evidence, that breathing these chemicals will cause cancer.

So... it is possible.

I wonder why the article didn't mention GPS tracking?

He shouldn't just be released out in society and let out of his sentence. He didn't get to the Federal system by being a 1st time offender, most likely, he was a career criminal prior to his incarceration. Released with a GPS tracker, maybe..... but under no other circumstances.

And still, as already mentioned, there will be others wanting to be home with their dying loved ones. He does get to speak to her everyday and has had 2 visits. I think that is more than generous when you are a law breaker.

Ok Pandora I get where you are coming from however as the mother of two children who have a drug addicted dad, albeit he be in rehab now. My kids think of their dad as a god. I threatened last week that if they didn't hurry up and clean their rooms they wouldn't go to The Marcy house and see their dad that day. My daughter had a fit that tore me to shreds. I felt like such a heal for saying it even though I never would have done it. So in this case I can relate.

I and many others think of him as a week POS but I was with him so I have no one to blame but me. They love him though and even though they are young they know his faults even though we don't dwell on it. He is their dad though, so I know how this little girl feels, My daughter would do the same thing. After all most girls are daddy's girls.

Maybe he did it to pay for medical bills?

Just saying :coffee: When times get tough, sometimes that is where people turn

That's what I was wondering! When it comes to your child, there just isn't much you will not do. The whole thing is complicated. I see both sides.

Your ex is attempting recovery in rehab which I find different from this incarcerated man who is in the Federal System. When a person is doing Federal time, they have an extensive criminal record. You and I both know, meth and cocaine destroys, this man is incarcerated for distribution of meth. Meth dealers don’t care what their product does to anyone, it is about make money and lots of it.

Okay I bit but the only reason my ex wasn't a dealer is because he would nevr have made money and the big guy would have most likely made him Crab bait by week two.

Also my ex has been in several recovery programs over the years but most always it was to save him from going to jail. This is the longest he has ever attempted a real recovery program and change of life and that is only because he basically died in front of his kids.

After my final straw with my ex four plus years ago, we stayed in the house until the sale was complete in separate rooms. My next door neighbor was Kevin Dyson, ring a bell? One day I came home and looked out the kitchen window and though t" Where is that new riding mower I bought? Low and behold it was in Kevin's yard. When I asked my ex he said yeah I sold it and I owe you half. Imagine my surprise when Kevin walked over two days later and told me the real deal. "Money owed = New mower"

The man needs to be with his daughter.

We let people who stuff secret documents into their socks go without punishment, The District Attorneys make deals with murderers every day. Let the man go home with his daughter.

... If the dead kids had better parents, they would not have been so stupid as to think they could use dangerous, illegal drugs and not pay a price. If he was a better parent he wouldn't be where he is now.

I don't agree with your assesment of parents being better parents. There are a lot of drugs out there, where kids may just experiment, as kids will do. I have seen kids from good families...families that do everything right. Spend time with their kids, talk to them about the perils of drugs, and make their kids take responsibility when they do wrong. Some drugs only take one time to grab the person and move them into addiction.

I don't know what your experience with this is, but this is mine. I understand the guy is on 4 out of 5...but he's already been given two furloughs. We always want to find an excuse for people who have done wrong. "he's almost done" "she's a beautiful little girl who's dying" I have the greatest empathy for the child, but none for the father. I know that without other criminal history, his pre-sentencing guidlines would not have gotten him five years.

She did. Twice. Right?

Yes she did and I know I am a bleeding heart when I say this but let him go, take him there in shackles in his jumpsuit and follow him to bathroom whatever. This is her wish, I am pretty sure that she knows that dad is locked up. This is not a pardon for gods sake it's a LAST WISH.

No parole in the federal system

I agree completely that he reaps what he sowed. I just know as a mother I wouldn't even want to imagine having a child dying from cancer and I would want for her to have every last wish possible no matter what the price or inconvenience.

Should her father be released and allowed to go to his dying daughter's side?

ABC News: Child's Dying Wish to See Dad Unfulfilled

I saw her tonight on FNC (7pm show). :bawl: She's terminal, she's going to die and has requested to see him. I think it should be allowed.

FTA:

"But the heartbroken family of a 10-year-old Nebraska girl diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, who is not expected to live through the end of the month, say the Federal Bureau of Prisons has denied the child's dying wish: that her incarcerated father be furloughed to be by his child's bedside when she dies.

<snip>

He is scheduled to be transferred in August to a halfway house just an hour from his daughter's bedside, but prison officials have refused to transfer him early, he said. "

It's not like he's in the first couple of months of his sentence. geez.

I could see that...and as a father I would too...I'd want to do whatever I could for my child. I don't begrudge them for trying...just disagree with allowing it.

Meth:

A Dying Wish

Before everyone gets too much pity for this guy, consider this:

His trafficking in meth has probably caused the deaths of other little girls daddies. His trafficking in meth has probably caused the deaths of other people's children.

That article also says the girl was fine 6 months ago, so there goes the theory of Dad knowing about it and still being into drugs or that the drugs were for the medical bills.
