Churches that will rent chapel???

Does anyone know of any churches in Calvert or lower St. Mary's that will rent out their chapel? I don't need a minister (though I would consider theirs if they offered one but I'm finding that's totally impossible) as I've secured one, I just need a chapel. Faith of the church really doesn't matter as like I've said I've secured my own minister. :jameo:

Your minister isn't associated with a church?

There are many non-denominational churches in Calvert that will marry you. You may have to have a few meetings (minimal) and give a donation.

Most churches don't allow "roving ministers" to peform ceremonies. Are you finding that nobody will marry you (using the church clergy) or not finding a church and letting you use your own minister?

You can cross any Catholic church off your list. They are hard azzes.

I grew up going to Methodist and Lutheran churches for the most part. I've left messages at 3 Methodist churches with no return call. :ohwell: And one told me flat out no. I'm fairly surpized because they're a fairly lax religion. I don't need the minister and I'll pay you for the chapel! :jameo:

Why don't you ask your minister which chapels he has done ceremonies in. That would be the easiest, I would think. Considering he already has an in with some of them, he could help book it for you.

I thought you liked the pretty little stone chapel in Charlotte Hall?

Does it have to be in a chapel or is your minister open to other locations? Many of the more attractive reception locations are also appropriate for a wedding ceremony. For example, Olde Breton Inn, which has a beautiful gazebo for the wedding and the reception is set up inside.

Both, I first inquire about a marriage and when I'm told that their minister/pastor won't marry outside the congregation I ask if they will rent their chapel if I provide my own officiant and again get told no.

Well, there is something a little more to getting married in a church than just the setting. You have to look at it from the church/clergy's point of view. They aren't just renting a "building."

Is there some problem with using the church clergyman?

Also Greenwell also has a very small chapel that they rent along with reception facilities.

He is open to wherever. I adore the church in Charlotte Hall but there's not an available reception site close! :jameo:

I can look but I think I am still a minister after I sent in my app and $12.50 to that ad in Rolling Stone a long time ago.

How formal is the reception going to be? Do you definitely want it inside, so you don't have to worry about weather?

My first inquiry always includs the clergymen. It's not until I'm denied that I ask about only renting the chapel.
