The wedding is in March so everything has to be indoors. Too cold to be outside.

I went to a wedding at Olde Breton in March. The bride descended the stairwell and walked through the reception area bridal aisle through the ballroom) to an archway that was right before another stairway that led down. Huge windows draped with bridal netting framing the view of the water was the backdrop for the ceremony. It was very well done and the pictures were beautiful. Just an idea if you want ceremony and reception at the same place. There's also a place near Annapolis that's gorgeous, but I can't remember the name of it.pixiegirl said:The wedding is in March so everything has to be indoors. Too cold to be outside.

There's Trinity at St. Mary's City (also a lovely little stone chapel) and you could rent the historic State House for the reception.
I'll keep thinking on it.
Rod N Reel for both is a good suggestion., Pix... since you do not participate in a church, I would think you'd be okay with getting married outside of a church... this would also fix the "wedding/reception" distance problem.cattitude said:Did you look here?

Rod N Reel does a nice job. You could do both there.

I think whenever you want it, is better.CableChick said:That sounds wonderful! I'm thinking of places to do a renewal of vows ...
does 15 years or 20 years sound better??
Like Rent-A-Religion or something.cattitude said:Well, there is something a little more to getting married in a church than just the setting. You have to look at it from the church/clergy's point of view. They aren't just renting a "building."

We had my son's wedding reception here They do an awesome job. Granted it's a little further than you may want to go, but it's spectacular.
pixiegirl said:My first inquiry always includs the clergymen. It's not until I'm denied that I ask about only renting the chapel.
I'm a member of that church (haven't found a church here yet), and my mom works there. I'm fairly certain that the new pastor will not perform ceremonies sight-unseen. I do believe that he'd marry outside of the congregation, but I know for a fact he'd require premarital counseling.CableChick said:We were married in the Methodist Church in La Plata. We had never set foot in the church prior to reserving it. I don't know how much we paid, but it was wonderful!
I'll be attending a wedding there in a few weeks, I've heard it's gorgeous.bresamil said:I thought you liked the pretty little stone chapel in Charlotte Hall?
Does it have to be in a chapel or is your minister open to other locations? Many of the more attractive reception locations are also appropriate for a wedding ceremony. For example, Olde Breton Inn, which has a beautiful gazebo for the wedding and the reception is set up inside.
LucySnow said:Have you tried St. Andrew's Epsicopal Church? It's in California (St. mary's County) Everyone there is very nice and welcoming! They marry a lot of couples that are not members. I'm not sure if they let other ministers use their church though? http://www.standrewssomd.org/
Hasn't your minister ever performed a service in a church building? Surely he must know of a few that can be "rented out"!
And if you get to have your wedding there... might I suggest you ask around for someone that can hook you up with renting the hall at the VFW in Hollywood...pixiegirl said:I have an apt.

Is there one in Hollywood? I thought it was just California kind of across from Wildewood. I work with the guy in charge.kwillia said:And if you get to have your wedding there... might I suggest you ask around for someone that can hook you up with renting the hall at the VFW in Hollywood...
They have a hall there that should be available for the reception.pixiegirl said:I have an apt.
I am talking the same place as you are... go ahead and hook her up... I do believe it would be perfect for her if she ends up marrying at St. Andrews.bresamil said:Is there one in Hollywood? I thought it was just California kind of across from Wildewood. I work with the guy in charge.
