My daughter needs to serve 32 hours of community service. This is ordered thru the court. How does she go about doing this? I understand she needs to pay a fee to do this. Is this correct? Just dont' know much about community service and don't know where to start. Thanks for any help.

She needs to arrange it thru the office at the courthouse.

Don't call for her, do it for her, pay it for her or provide transportation for her.
You'll be acceptng responsibility for her actions instead of allowing her to learn from her mistakes.

My son got a speeding ticket and he has to do community service tomorrow....He has to work at the Leonardtown State Police Barracks...He will be vacuuming and washing cars or whatever else needs doing around there....Had to go to the states attorneys office in the court house in Leonardtown, pay $25.00 and now he has to serve his time....They do have other things that they can do too....Parks & Rec has something and some church dinners do it too....

8 hours per point + $25 to sign up for the program.
or
You can make a donation equal to double your fine to some charity they've designated. Think it's the GFUL Fund (Green fees for underpriveliged lawyers)

25 instead of the price of the ticket, number of hours depends on how fast you were going or what you did, they don't report to your insurance and no points on your tickets. HOWEVER, they do keep the incident on record for one year.

Should you know of any non-profits in your area speak with them. In Charles County I know the courts usually don't care where one puts their time in as long as it's working for the good of the community. I also know several non-profits would willingly accept any help they can get. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info. It seems almost unfair if the ticket is $100 and you have free time or enjoy doing new things and meeting new people.

I have to volunteer for stuff at my job a lot and so it wouldn't be too big of a deal for me. But I wouldn't dare let on to that in court.

I need to network and increase my connections in SoMd so I would choose a place where I can benefit in doing that. They probably would send my inquisitive butt home early lol.

I had to do that once...worked at a church dinner for a weekend. No big deal
