Did anyone answer the one about the OLD and NEW Theaters?? Where were they and what are they today???

The St. Mary's Theater was where planning and zoning used to be on Leonardtown square, but I don't recall it being called the old theater. The New Theater was where Nook and Monks was, it was later a Mexican restaurant, I don't know what's there now, on the other side of Leonardtown Square.

My turn. Where was Craddock's Store located?

I only remember it as a Dodge Dealer. Went there looking for my 1st car because my Dad was a "Chrysler" man....LOL. It was Horton Dodge in the late 60s and early 70s. The bank bought the building (I think from Bob Hunt) and converted it....Such Old Timers we are...LOL

That was before my time - I didn't move to St. Mary's until 1974.

Correction! My dad was stationed at Pax River in 1962 for a couple of years. So, we lived there until 1964. Then, we moved back to St. Mary's in 1974 after he retired. I don't remember much from 1964, except where we lived & that he took me & my brother to see the Beatles movie at the theatre in Lex. Pk.

I do.

Charlotte Hall trivia.

Club Sunrise was where Burger King now stands, what also was in the Club Sunrise building?
Where was the Western Auto in Charlotte Hall
What was on the corner of Oaks rd and Rt. 5 before the Shell/Subway
Where was Lefty's Barbeque located before it burned up.
What was the name of the barbeque place on the corner of Golden Beach rd. where the Dash In now sits.
What use to be in the building where Rita's is now.

The Club Sunrise was a furniture store for a few years.
The Barbeque place was called Porky Pigs, then it changed to a Chinese place.
The others are driving me crazy! I lived there in th 80s and ealy 90s and driving me nuts that I can't remember. I wish someone would answer.
BTW, what are putting where the old Escape Video was? I loved Escape Video.

The furniture store was a Raley's.
Western Auto was in the shopping center where the old IGA was, and Curves occupies the location where WA was.
Lefty's was in a trailer beside Lighthouse Liquors about where Dr Koths office sits, it caught fire and went up in flames, he then moved to Pinefield.
Rita's use to be Cord's Cabintry before they built there new place before the Farmers Market.
Rt5 and Oaks Rd. use to have a Gulf Station (Easter's) where Subway is now, building practically sat on the shoulder of the road.

What was once where the WaWa is now in Chalotte Hall.
Where was the first Highs Store located in No St. Marys. And what tragic event happened there.
Where was Mickey's Shell located.
If Escape Video was beside Earls Steakhouse (Heavy Hitters) its going to be a Chinese carry-out.

Thanks, now I remember everything except the Western Auto. I used to rent a house from the people that own the property of Escape Video & the place next to it. They still rent those trailers behind it & the property behind them.
Surprised they didn't turn into a place to eat years ago. That place has had so many businesses in it since Escape Video closed up and the place next door, I can't remember them.

Those trailers are history, in the past couple of weeks they have been stripped of the aluminum and ready for the dump.
Years ago rumor had it that they were going to clear that corner including the trailers and a Checkers bulit, but it fell through for some reason, think it might I been to small of a lot.

anyone remember what used to be at the intersection of 245/235 (south bound side across from burchmart) before they tore it down to make room for the new road?

Was the Highs Store in Mechanicsville, a little north of where the Post Office is now? (it would be on the right going south) I can't picture what is there now, if anything.

Was it a murder that took place there?

The Highs was in the New Market Plaza and was located on the end of the row, I think its some kiind of medical office now and yes on the southbound side. Yes it was a murder, the store was robbed one night and the female clerk was shot and killed, was like about 30 years ago or more and back then those kind of things were somewhat unheard of down in SoMd.

Proably many signs advertising just about everything and every event going on in SoMd. :killingme Drove past that corner last week and was amazed at the number of signs that were up.

Those trailers should have been history 20 years ago. They were run down then. The people I rented from were trying to get the entire corner section they owned zoned commercial years ago, I'm sure they're still trying to have it all commercial. I was on the road across from Seymour's, it was a nice house.
I remember Mickey's Shell but not where it was.

:yay: That's where I thought it was.

And I remember hearing about the murder a few years after it happened. (Someone I know very well, who knew someone who was with the sheriff's dept., etc.)
