Cracker Barrell not what it used to be

Just sneakin' around....
The last time I actually went to a real sit-down restaurant was eons ago. Might have been when I met some formites at Dennis Point for lunch. When the pandemic hit, I just didn't want to deal with the nonsense and masking. Over time, got completely out of the routine of eating out, and now just prefer to make my own, especially when paying for sub-standard food really annoys me. Yes, there are still some decent places to eat, just not into it anymore.

Cracker Barrels breakfast used to be ok, nothing to write about, but since the menu was chopped due to covid, theres really very little for which to go there.

The place in Leonardtown Square is not much more on the money front and the food is a better.

The area really lacks for breakfast places.

Other than IHOP and Bob Evans, what breakfast options are there for Sunday mornings locally? I know Linda's is closed on Sundays as well as Showtime Deli. I heard Boomerang's and Tall Timbers Marina were doing breakfast again.

I was just thinking about that over the past few days. Other than CB, Linda's and the place in L'Town, what else is around for b'fast that isn't a chain?
Back when I owned Swann's, breakfast was easily the most popular and well attended meal in the restaurant most days. And that even though the location is/was pretty far removed from population... We opened at 6am though..to cater to the charter fishermen (many of whom stayed in our hotel) and local watermen.

I've never been much of a fan for Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel or any of the same style of restuarant, especially those that specialize in breakfast, because I don't like most breakfast foods (pancakes, waffles, muffins, anything bread-like) - I don't care for most sausage and sausage type foods, which pretty much leaves breakfast with bacon - eggs - and some kind of potato, like hash browns. I can only eat that a few times before I tire of it.

Maybe - it's just having a sweet - MEAL.

THAT said, that doesn't leave a lot for the rest of their entrees. Nothing really sticks out to me. We went there with MIL who likes CB a few weeks ago, and it was Friday during Lent, so I had their fish (not because it was Lent, but because it was on special). Meh.

To be honest, big franchise type restaurants don't hold a lot for me - they have to have at least ONE THING that makes me look forward to it. For example, Red Lobster isn't exactly head and shoulders above a local seafood place - but their cheesy garlic biscuits are worth the trip. Red Robin has the onion rings, and Outback has the Bloomin' Onion - but the rest of their fare is - meh - ok.

Every once in a while I pop in to Red Robin for Onion Rings and a Tall Beer. The burgers are ok, but nothing special.

See, now, BERT'S - I liked. I could get all kinds of stuff you can't get elsewhere - a patty melt, reuben, pretty sure they had foot longs. (Been a while).

Service was good. I'm gonna miss Bert's.
Agree. I usually got a BLT (huge..), and one of the very few places where I could get a malted using sugar-free ice cream.

And about the service... yes, very good, and pretty much all teenagers. Bert's knew how to hiring the good ones.

At least you can still see Bert hanging out at Foxy Fish (his daughters place) all the time. Love talking with him, reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield ;)

And here I am, still never been to that Red Robin..or any Red Robin. And, like you, I like pretty large-breasted women and dark breakfast food.

Hmm...I think my dyslexia is acting up again.....

Was Cracker Barrel ever anything to start with? Only went there once about 20 years ago and the food was way, way, way over salted and tasted of chemical preservatives. Never saw a reason to go back.

If course, the place was full of blue heads whose taste buds were long dead, so …. What did anyone ever see in that place anyway?
Well I can certainly see why you tasted chemicals, by your posts that I have read, chemicals have played a major role in your asinine posts! But please carry on as they are non the less humorous!

I bet you buy lotion in bulk and store it on top of the mini-fridge in your basement, don’t you?
