I am ISO someone who does quality custom body work on a Harley Davidson..
Specifically, I would like to have this person install a 200 Rear Tire kit on a 2000 sportster...

Any recommendations on qualified persons?

So, this kit, it doesnt require any real body work, correct? Just installation of parts? Custom body work to me means forming metal not bolting parts. I ask because these are two very different skillsets.

I wouldn't do it

Unless you're consistently breaking traction while accelerating, it's a cosmetic change that will make it more difficult to initiate a turn.

You know how Harley guys operate. Form over function. I have 2 HD's. I would rather have it look cool than be comfortable!

I have one of each.

My '47 flathead hardtail springer...and my '01 FLHTC Road Sofa.

Thinking about an upgrade, exhaust, intake and tuner. Any idea if those guys can do the tuning and testing? I like their set up. Dyno? I guess I could ask them.

Rusty can, and does, build anything from mild to wild. He did the exhaust upgrade, cam change and carb upgrade on my '01. I'm not sure if he has access to a dyno though...

'06, right? Most guys just throw on the Vance and Hines and leave it at that and are happy. I know three guys personally; an '06 Street Glide (88) , '07 FLHTCU (96) and IIRC, an '04 FLHTCU (88?).

Whadja do with the cams?

Increased the mid-range torque at the expense of a few high-end HP ("high end" being a very subjective term when we are discussing Harley engines, of course).

True dual exhaust and a Mikuni too. My '01 is not EFI.

Pales in comparison to the missus' '08 FXDBI though. She has the 100HP/100ft-lb Screaming Eagle 103ci upgrade talking to the world through Super Trap exhaust. Now THAT is one sweet running Harley.

yeah...I'm the wimp of the family. My '47 cranks out a little over 30HP and my heavy-arsed dresser, maybe 70HP.

Needles to say, she can whup my butt barely cracking the throttle.

I know nothing of tuners. How do you know where to set it if you do intake and exhaust mods?

'08. I'd like to do that, but the intake is fairly cheap. So..

.

Good question...and I don't know the answer. The missus' FXDBI 103 was built and tuned by Ft. Washington H-D, not Rusty's shop. She bought it already done.

I'd simply give Rusty a call and ask him how he handles that; he builds, and has built, a lot of Harleys (and others too).

I may do that.

A lot of car tuners work both ways. You can get a "canned" tune thats a good generic solution for some common basic stuff, the more popular the mod combo is the better the chance theres a canned tune for it.

Might leave say %10 of the potential of the mods on the table with a canned tune. Getting that other stuff, that's where a dyno tune comes in.

How can they be 'custom' bikes if everyone has the same custom bike?

That's like having the same individuality as everyone else...
