Watched some TV news this morning and some news sources are claiming Z was blindsided and that was all scripted setup.
For the past week every news source was reporting Z was coming in person to sign over mineral rights in order for the US to recoup billions of dollars in lisses. It was also stated doing so would result in the US having skin in the game thus providing Ukraine with embedded security forces.
Trump was brilliant by choosing to engage in front of the world. He absolutely nailed Z’s bait and switch because it had been done so many times before with the previous administration. Remember the clip from 2022 when Biden was outraged by Z and even ended his tirade with”…and you should show some gratitude!”

He was cocky, clearly felt he was OWED something by virtue of his great need - seemed to think, Trump, Biden, what's the difference?
But he did make one point, and it wasn't addressed - cease fire doesn't mean much if the other guy has the trustworthiness of Hamas - he was right, Putin has ignored and violated agreements almost whimsically. It's not at all likely he wants a cease fire. The West and the United States WILL have to put teeth in any agreement, because he will roll right back in the moment no one's looking. Putin cannot afford a flourishing, affluent former state next door.
I mean, it comes across as - sure, help us out but we still want weapons and equipment, but what he does want is some assurance that once the paper is signed - that Russia has to be held to it, and "sanctions" won't be enough.
