My Match experience has been extremely enlightening. I thought it would be very different from real life dating situations, but nope - same guys, same women, same technique.
What's most fascinating is that they're on there ostensibly to find either their next ex-wife/husband or at least expand their dating horizons, yet very few want to take the initiative. I've made at least a dozen penpals, both men and women, and been on a couple of dates (one guy that I'm seeing again
), and they've been great about helping me with my project (did I mention that this is also a Soc project?).
Lots of winking and liking going on, but very few emails being exchanged and really not a lot of dating, considering you have a large target demographic right at your fingertips. Some of these guys are ridiculously cute with great profiles, but the women just aren't banging on them (and the guys also aren't initiating contact). So you average guys, don't fret - the hotties aren't getting play either. And it's not that they're coming across as Rico Suave Nigerian scammer dude, because they're clearly local and don't even mention long walks on the beach or romantic massages.
It's been very interesting and I'm making some new friends.
