David's Challenge on Tolerance...

Now Harleygirl...you KNOW that when someone starts whining about a lack of diversity or not being tolerant....that almost always means it is one side that wants to be heard over all the others. They really don't want diversity...they want domination. (take a look at Free speech on Campus by John Stoussel)
I think that is what is was referencing.

I did not mean to whine, Hessain. My philosophy has always been live and let live. I also am very open-minded, I have a great love for Psychology. I am not at all judgemental, although I love to joke around, someone might think I am. I will read your websites, I love reading all opinions. My standpoint is that I personally do not judge anyone, that is up to God one day.

Besides, I do not want domination. I like to be dominated. :whip: :killingme j/k[/QUOTE]

guess i'm gonna have to step up to both plates :yay:

Hessian - I can definitely appreciate that you have your beliefs - some we may even have that are in common - but it appears that you feel that I should embrace YOUR beliefs and if I do not somehow you feel that you must make everyone understand why you feel the way you do and that anyone that does not see things in the same light is incorrect.

I posted some of the web site info and what typically happens that instead of weighing the studies and getting a sense for what has been written from all over the western world,...critics will pounce on the website and reject the info in mass(which is what just happened  )

I read enough of the first website to see that its full of hate towards homosexuals, i didn't need to read all of it, and yes, i rejected your hate in mass.
As someone else said earlier your theroy seems to be "i read it on the internet, so you know its true"

Hessian, I do not think you're ignorant - quite the opposite, I find you highly intelligent. But your rantings against homosexuality are not very Christian, to wit:
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

You are also not the one in charge of judgement, and I quote:
Isaiah 33:22
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

And in closing:
Matthew 7:3-5
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

I think several of us should pay special attention to that last one.

Christ was fond of answering a question with a question..

Vrai:
How do you think Christ would respond to the Ephesians 4:32 verse just after whipping and throwing the money changers out of His temple?...yes,...he did make a whip.

How about when he called the Pharisee's A brood of Vipers, and rotten tomb?
Doesn't sound very loving & forgiving.

Paul urges the Church in Corinth to throw out a particularly bold & arrogant sinner. (but you are probably already aware of that.)

ALSO..you know there is 2 standards of behavior expected of the Christian:
One toward people who claim to be Christians and one toward the world.

Within Christ's family Certainly there is to be brotherly love, forgiveness, and care for the needy but there are also admonitions to be watchful, put on the armor of God (expecting clever and incipient attacks)...confront those who would twist His teachings, ...

When dealing with the World: both Christ and the apostles were ...
a) Bold
b) decisive (Christ left his hometown because they rejected his teaching)
c) Confrontational-when dealing with Saducees/Pharasees and false teachers.
d) Forgiving but also warning..."Woe unto you..."and shake the "dust off your feet" when confronting those who reject his offer.

So...can I be guilty of being judgemental: sure---but I stand with good company. And the hypocrisy issue is a mirror: Do I have blatent beam of unscriptural behavior that needs to be yanked out before I whisper another word....um,..I am aware of those failings; and deal with them through His offer of 70x7. (Peter's question of how often should I forgive someone....)

Christ came to fulfill the Law's requirement....as you know: awareness of the Law leads only to condemnation (there is none righteous...no not one...) BUT He did not come to REPLACE the law (."..does that mean I can sin all the more?" asks Paul hypothetically) .

Lastly:One cannot know mercy unless one is confronted with the severity of the law and the cost of failure.....who will discuss and warn of the Law if we are all cowed into politically correct silence???????....will anyone then know what grace is offered?...or will grace be seen as too cheap also?

You will note that it says GOD forgave. Not Christ - GOD. When you land at the Pearly Gates, it's not Jesus you will answer to.

You will also note that Jesus is the redeemer - not Hessian or Vrai. So if he wants to toss out the money changers, let him. It's not your job.

My understanding is that Christians are supposed to spread the Good News, not berate people who choose not to listen. If God is so great and powerful, he can take care of his own sinners without your help. And you can take solace in the knowledge that you will go to Heaven and dance with angels, while sinners will be tormented for eternity.

I got unsigned red too, I guess someone's interpretation of the bible does not teach them to be tolerant. I guess bombing the abortion clinic is next.

My mom's rule was "if you can go out and party on saturday night, you can go to church sunday morning." Who knows, maybe all that time sitting in church with a hangover might have done some good.

I am rare in handing out the red...but you gotta admit: condom issues may not fit well in the Religion section unless you have an issue with the Catholic church. (I haven't handed out a red in weeks  )

I find it interesting that people who are quick to pull out the "Judge not lest ye be judged" quotation...don't consider the context, or the audience,...
And if they follow that logic: we end up in total anarchy (which is something they don't want!)...and something Christ never taught.

Or the other is...."He that is without sin...cast the first stone." An excellent answer to a crisis situation of a woman caught in adultery. However: how many remember the second comment by Christ?
"Woman, where are your accusers?
Go and sin no more."

How easy was that for her? Did Christ honestly believe that the rest of her days would be spent in sinless bliss?
No: But he ordered (not asked) her to strive and resist temptation, to not succumb to lust.
She understood grace the most: because she was exposed to the penalties of the law (stoning)...and yet was given life: NOT TO KEEP SINNING...but to reform her life and change.

How many thousands are not exposed to the wages of their sin (until it is too late) because it would be politically incorrect and "intolerant." Thus....they feel they are fine
(Every man who does right in his own eyes).

--they don't know the law....they will never know grace.

Who will tell them how far they have fallen? Who will remind them of the real meaning of shame?
