Yeah I know what you mean - I think he was still growing as an individual at the time (more excuses for him) but he was genuinely sorry for the time we were apart. I am SURE my sibling was permanently affected by his behavior (never forgave him), but in MY view you are either the type to make your own way in life despite your surroundings/upbringing. or you look for excuses to be a loser. I chose to be strong.

I completely agree with this. Stuff happens and not every life is going to be peachy keen but, as I say frequently, it's never too late to have a happy childhood.

There is no court, she doesn't contact him or return his calls for weeks. He was having a moment about it and I was helpless to make it better.

Your being there is the answer. He already knows it, even in the middle of his moment. (And I know you know this deep down, too.)

I can see a big change in my two this year as they have seen sides of their dad they never saw before. They compartmentalize, but once in awhile it comes out, and then I get to deal with it. But it's what I do.

Oh I know, believe me. We have it made. My point is that men do not have the market cornered on being shiatty non custodial parents. My problem with it is I wanted to call and tell her how much she sucks so she doesn't go a minute longer not knowing.

EXACTLY - so true ..... no one is ever REALLY right you know? They can both rip each other apart....... been there, done that.
