Deer Whistles

I have hit three deer in the last 11 years here. I did not have deer whistles on any vehicle I was driving when I hit them. I now use them all the time and have never hit a single one. I don't realy know if they work or not, but figure they sure can't hurt. But you still have to keep a sharp eye out........

Well, I can testify that my water buffalo whistles work. I have never even seen one in the 12 years I've been driving here.

What kind do you have? Mine didn't need any instillation, they just had a strip of adhesive at the bottom you peel back and stick on  What kind of whistle/siren do you have?

Did you put the batteries in the right way??

It sounds like they aren't working, and not producing the never-sound that they should be...

I've driven for almost 30 years and have never hit a deer..

I think it's because of my wolf whistle..

My dear Dems, nothing will stop deer from running out in front of your vehicle. Only thing you can do is keep a sharp watch out for them and if you see one on the side of the road slow down a bunch or even come to a stop because it will jump out and be followed by others. Love and lust is in the air right now for them. It's sorta like picking up a crab if you don't know how. Very dangerous to your health and welfare.

Problem is in the dark its harder to see them until you are right up on them. How long does deer stupidity season last? Thanks.

To be safe think at least until the end of Nov.

Great, then I'll have snow and ice to worry about and going slow  Better than deers, snow and ice and getting rear ended all in one fall swoop. Thanks!! :huggy:

Saw one on the side of the road few years ago, slowed down and it didn't move so I went on. Darned thing then ran out and ran into the side of my car. Sounded like some real damage was done but upon inspection not even a dent. I'll bet her nose hurt some though.

Actually, they are a year round risk. Lower after November, but still out there.

With Dems luck, she should just assume they are always there about to jump in front of ther.

 I've learned this year - luck of the Irish doesn't always mean "good" luck.

Huntr and I did that once...for the life of me I can't remember who was driving...we were in Shanandoah National Park, we were going the speed limit of 25 mph. Saw the deer and we slowed to a complete stop. She stayed on the side of the road and as soon as we started up again, she ran out in front of us.

Didn't kill her, at least not right away. She had a badly broken leg though. No damage to the car.
