Dont know when it changed but kindergarden is a must. I say pre-K should be a must as well.
Then they'll have pre-pre-k and then it will be required, next thing you know we'll be shoving books in the womb. When will it stop.

Why is that? I have a 4 year old that is smarter then most 1st graders. He doesn't NEED pre-K anymore then I NEED the chips I'm putting in my piehole at this moment. :snacks:

why? so you don't have to actually watch her 24/7?

You make pre-k a must, then you're gonna be having an optional pre-pre-k...then people are gonna whine that their kids aren't getting into that...you can't please everyone. Either cough of the $ (like I assume you are now for what she's doing now) or keep her at home with you and work with her yourself.

I think 4 year olds should be around other kids, its not like its all day. It builds up social and motor skills.

:yeahthat: I do agree with you on that. I think that the kids need to be slowly prepared for full time school.

From what I've read, the preK classes are funded by federal Chapter One money, which comes with strings attached. The money, I believe, is meant to boost school achivement among disadvantaged populations. St. Mary's used to offer preK at the schools with the most students receiving federal lunch money, and I believe they still do this.

But this is the first time I've heard of income limits being used for admission. The classes used to have a screening test to target the children who needed preK the most, such as kids with learning disabilities.

I do! I also believe its a must to read to your child as soon as they are born lol. I just want her to succeed in life and yes I am saying it, get a job and not have to depend on a man.

:yeahthat: That's what I do. He's only this young once, I'd like to spend as much time with him as I can before he has to start school. And it's not like he's socially retarded or anything, he's not missing out.

Ok I got red from Board mommy telling me I wa biatch for basically saying the same thing. It's a personal choice for most. I personally would not choose to be a stay at home mom and then send my child to pre-school. Most of the skills they are taught are thing I can teach them other than the constant interaction with other kids.

My child didn't get into pre-K either

My oldest son is in K now, but when he was 4, he didn't get in either. Aced the test, and we made too much.

My youngest IS in PRE-K now, I told him not to ace the pre-exam! It musy have worked. He's actually smarter than the older son (always has been). In my opinion, he is doing much better than the older boy in school. He will be much more comfortable and more prepared when next year rolls around and he's in school all day.

I say this in the nicest way possible, but whether or not your daughter goes to preschool really has no bearing on her career path.

Then what the effe are you complaining about? :bigwhoop: You're complaining about the fact that you have to pay for it now if you think public pre-k should be mandatory that's what you're doing.
