:yeahthat: I see no rush either, my daughter who is 5 isn't in school but she will be next year in kindergarten. Treasure it while you can.
Mine were both three months before their sixth birthday when they started school due to the change in when they can go to school. If the state changed the laws which they did almost four years ago to gradually push back the birthdate entry from Dec. 31 to Aug 31 that they have to be five to start kindergarten that tells me kids were starting too young and were unprepared or being pushed too soon.

How many of you parents in here have had children denied from Pre-K? I have NEVER heard of being turned down b/c you make too much money or because they do not have any handicaps.

:howdy:

I was in here kvetching about this exact thing last month-ish.

My oldest only got in to pre-k because I was a single mom and I didn't get child support.

I was turned down for Headstart because I made too much money.

Both of my kids are intelligent.

Pre-k for me was more about social skills and easing the separation anxiety of leaving mommy all day.
Plus is does help not having to have day care for those hours:yay:

I just don't see what the rush is. One day you'll be missing those precious moments you had when they were still little and wish you still had them at home. I agree children with special needs should get the opportunity. These kids have at least 13 years of school ahead of them why push for it at 3 and 4 years of age. I simply think it's a convenience issue for many parents and not a true need.

My 3 children did not attend pre school. We made the decision to hold the 2 youngest back a year from starting kindergarten. applied for a waiver of maturity with the BOE. This worked out very well for them. They never suffered seperation anxiety, had no problems socialy, and did very well in school. In addition to this, they stayed at home with Mommy. They are only young for a short period of time. Don't rush them along. Oh, By the way, I rocked all 3 to sleep every night while they were babies.
