Desperatly seeking help to save Dallas

I wanna be a SMIB
My friend has a 4 yr old pure bred German Shepherd. She just found out this morning that her dog has a genetic female disorder. The vet said they could try a medication for a day or two and if that doesnt work, Dallas (dog) will need surgery. Other that this, this dog is beautiful, healthy and very loving. My friend can not afford this and her only option is to give her away or put her down. To kill this beautiful girl for lack of money is a disgrace. but they have no money. Does anyone know of anything or anyone that can help save Dallas. I can not take her as she hates cats and I have 4. Suggestions, anyone?

Sounds like pyometra. Most vets will work with you, you can finance the fees. I cannot imagine a vet giving someone a choice like that.

My friend feels they cant even afford this with financing. I have to say the hubby wants to put her down. And apparantly thats the choices they have. Sucks, doesnt it. I wish I could find a way to help. Im so sad.

Use the link I posted and ask them to help. Call all the humane societies around. Poor dog. I could care less about the owners.

I emailed them asking them to help. I dont think they will get back to me in time to save her. The vet wants a decision by end of day as to medicate or kill.

I'm not sure what you can expect by way of help with such short notice...:ohwell: It doesn't make sense for a vet to say there is no time to come up with the money or think about the decision unless the dog was suffering. If she is suffering and your friends don't have the money to do the surgery I don't see where they have much choice but to let her go peacefully so that she suffers no more.

Up until last night she was fine. Im not sure if shes in pain but whatever it it thats wrong with her, if it does not get treated NOW she will die within....well real soon. And the meds are a couple hundred and they dont even know if they will work.

RED FLAG:

How much are they needing for surgery? They have financing for this. Why doesn't she just apply for that and then worry about getting the money to repay it?

The vet isn't going to put down a dog unless that is requested by the owner.

Bottom line, the husband doesn't want to treat the dog.

I just dont think animals should have to die because of lack of money. I f she was in pain I would agree with you to put her down, but she can be fixed and live a long life. Its just not right

You need to take it up with owner.

Vets just can't give away their services, especially when it appears the owner could care less.

Why don't you loan your friend the money?

I don't mean to sound cold but I've laid out $500 in the last month on two dogs and have another vet appt. this week. I'm tapped out.

I would if I had it. But they said it will be aroung 1000.00 with the spaying and tests and everything else. Im just very sad about how this is all turning out. I understand they cant give away services but I was thinking maybe a rescue of some kind could step up and take ownership and save her. I know, alot to ask but at least Im trying. Im not to proud to beg for help.

Sucks for the dog, but really the dog will be put out of its misery and won't know any better. She will go peacefully.

One thing I've learned from my experience with doing rescue is that many animals are better off "in another place" than being treated like crap by humans.

And people wonder why rescue organization adoption fees are so expensive. Not to mention filling out paperwork to see if you'd be an acceptable owner.

Is this the dog's regular vet? Has this dog been vetted regularly?

She takes her hidden basement kitty to St Marys and I think she always took Dallas to 3 Notch. I dont know why she didnt this time.
