My wife and daughter are so excited, all they do is talk about our trip. We aren't even leaving until May 10.

The wife found out that there is a concert series at Epcot while we be there. The first group is is The Association (Cherish, Windy). She's excited about Davy Jones :eyebrow: :duh:. Can you imagine anyone wanting to see Davy Jones? Fortunately, our kids will be bored about half way through the first song, so I can be the hero and take them to do something more exciting, like watching the grass grow.

and there was a really wierd guy at the less than average white band concert last night that I think wanted to throw his panties on the stage. Not that this has anything to do with this thread that I didn't read. That's all.

I have the best inlaws. They decided that we need to take our kids to Disneyworld. We were looking at the cheap places near Disney. My FIL said no, we must stay on the grounds, and on the monorail. He's forking up for five days in the Contemporary tower, airfare, etc.

I've always been uncomfortable accepting gifts because with my dad the gifts always have a condition. With my FIL, he just enjoys giving. I'm learning to accept because it makes him happy to give.

My questions: (kids are 4 and 6, and they are the focus)

We want to do Sea World for one day. We don't want to do a rental car or city bus. Has anyone done a limo or towncar? How much?

We haven't been there since '98. What are the "don't miss" things now?

Is Animal Kingdom worth our time?

Animal Kingdom has some fantastic stuff for the little ones. Two of their shows (Lion King and Tarzan) are very well done. Don't take them on the dinosaur ride though. You should go though. It is a rough ride w/ well done animatronics (carnasaurs going to eat you and such).

Epcot now has Turtle Talk w/ Crush where the ocean pavillion is. That was probably one of the coolest new things for the kids. A giant aquarium looking screen where Crush from Finding Nemo swims up and asks the kids questions and tells them things. Extremely funny for even the adults. It is amazing how quick the interaction is and it is Crush's voice.

I think I was there in the early 70's...they were just beginning the Epcot globe....Some of Tomorrow land was packed because of our recent Moon landings...simulations of the launch sequences etc.-yes...I still remember with a smile.

Later when I chaperoned some HS seniors I found myself listening to the "fragile earth" narrations...followed by Walter Cronkrite's detached voice telling us that all our hopes rest in exploring space.
Soon after was constant references to the millions of extinct species & dinosaurs..over millions of years.
Then add the painful "Small world after all"..with all the cultures joining hands in mythical glee. (I felt like Shrek!)

The reason why I mention this is that I DON'T want to go to some Fundamental camp/park ...but I do want to go to some place that isn't saturated in Political Correctness and Humanism. I'd like to go someplace that says..USA-#1...not on par with Nepal and Ghana.
What is science exploring?, discovering? & having breakthroughs? without lessons in evolution or condemning our consuming lifestyle.
Does this make sense?

When I was there the last Christmas they had plenty of Christian Christmas music on, they had stories at the different Epcot pavillions about Christmas heritage in each of the countries, etc... I don't think they are really dodging it all that much. They just aren't preaching it.

Oh pish. Disney was a Socialist, too, and I still went and enjoyed myself.

Ha! The kids are my reason not to have to sit through Davy. Why would I want a nanny?
A nanny for your WIFE, not the kids! :bonk: She'll need someone to keep her company and make sure she doesn't rush the stage when he does "Daydream Believer" :yay:

Lord, if I wanted to have a religious debate about Disney World, I'd start a thread about it in the religion forum. But hey-that's just me.

I will be taking the family to Disney world Easter week. :yay: We are staying at Gaylord Palms resort about 5 minutes from Disney World. We will also hit Universal studios.

I was bored at Animal kingdom and Sea World. MGM did not have a lot of great stuff either other then Tower of Terror and Aerosmith Rockin Roller coaster.

I think I like Universal Studios of all the orlando area theme parks. :yay:

My first trip to Disney was at age 17, and I remember being disappointed that the Magic Kingdom and Epcot had almost no big thrill rides. I think that attitude is typical of most teenagers, since the parks you mentioned cater to families with younger children. That's the great think about the Orlando area--you can find almost anything to entertain your kids no matter what their age. In 12 years, my kids will probably crave the Tower of Terror instead of the Flying Dumbos.

Also, you're staying at a convenient location. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, north on International Drive and east on US 192.

If you want to eat at a good resturaunt off of Disney property check out Seasons 52. Its in between Disney and Universal on Sand Lake Rd. It was one of the best meals I have had in a while. Every main dish is less then 450 calories which leaves room for the best part - their desserts. They serve individual serving in shot glasses that are wonderful. At $2 a peice you can get more then one.

They have a website www.seasons52.com
