disposing of used gas grill

So, my grill has DIED (actually started feeling poorly last fall), and since Lowes has them on clearance I'm gonna get a new one.:dye:

What's my best option for getting this one out of my yard? It is really gone - 6 years old, everything is rusting out. Could possibly be converted into a charcoal grill or a smoker, but I'm just not into that much work right now. Should I just take it up to St Andrews landfill?

Calvert County Bulk trash pick-up
Just call them and set up a pick-up day, max three items (which they spell out on the website), and leave it by the street. They take grills. Note the things they do NOT pick-up, too.

Done. If you're in Calvert County, that is...

Leave it out in the front yard like you had just finished using it, it shouldn't be too long before someone will steal it away for you.

You beat me to it, I was going to recommend the same thing. I called them a few months ago to pick up a few things. They asked that we put the stuff on the curb the night before scheduled pickup because they may come out really early. Got up the next morning at 5am and someone had taken the stuff already. Called them to let them know that they didn't have to come after all.

My mom uses hers as a plant potting station. Keeps a small bag of potting soil, shovel, gloves, etc. I thought that was a really neat idea.

So it sounds like you put the stuff out the night before, and Calvert wasn't the ones who took it? Somebody took it? Wow! These people are around our houses every night? :killingme

I'd probably try to tell them not to come get it, too. But some of the stuff I've put out there, I 'd be surprised if anyone took. I have a pick-up scheduled for the beginning of Sept for an old rusty water heater I just replaced. If someone wants it, they can have it! :lol:

:gossip: There is a big recycling section at the St. Andrews landfill.
Most convenience centers/transfer stations will not take them due to the bulk.
You can also post it on Freecycle as a curb pickup if you do not feel like hauling it to the dump and paying $10.00 to get rid of it.

I got a shiny silver-colored grill last night!!!:yahoo:

Found somebody that wants to fix the old one up (which I thought was not a reasonable option), thanks for all the replies.
