Do we deserve our military?

wait, that's exactly what was done in the post before mine (and this time I don't think it was a democrat that did it)

I didn't make myself clear. The current majority in Congress keeps harping incessantly about the lack of progress by the Iraqi parliament. And yet these are the same folks who ran on a set of promises, declared they received a mandate from the American people and which to date, they've failed to keep.

To keep things in perspective, perhaps they should read a bit of history. They want political progress in Iraq, fine. How long did it take Germany and Japan to approve a Constitution and make real political progress? Or our country initially? I realize the Socialists need to keep changing the goalposts in their effort to discredit Bush, but sometimes their rhetoric goes over the top.

as opposed to all the good things that came from the last 8 years?

I can think of a lot of good things done in the past 8 years, but that's not what the topic of the post was. The Democrats came into office stating that they were going to change things etc etc. and they have done anything but play petty politics games with the President.

As for the basic question asked Do we deserve our military? Well about half the country does, The other half would just as soon be in Russia or China or the Middle east as they certainly dont love America.

Gonna blow your nose in the stars and bars after you cry me that river?

For the gargantuan amount of money the Pentagon has vaccumed out of this country in the last seven years, I deserve and expect a military that can actually WIN a war in five years. Instead, I get a lumbering bureaucracy stuffed to the gills with a whiny, angsty warrior caste hiding behind a skepticism-free, with-us-or-against-us version of false, self-serving patriotism while blaming their phuckups on "the politicians," subverting diplomacy, pissing on the laws of war and letting their privatized entourage mortgage my future.

I am sick and tired of paying for little boys and their big toys.

Jerk off to the peace and quiet of The Surge while you can, kiddies, cuz Sadr is just itching for the end of March, when we finally exhaust what's left of our armed carcass and begin pulling back to rationality. I don't see a government ready to step into that vaccum, and I severely doubt Turkey and Iran are going to sit on their hands once we pull back to our bases again.

Take comfort, if you must, in the self-indulgent fantasy that "half the country" is silently cheering at the defeat of their nation's army, but I'm betting that the vast majority of America is embarrassed and deeply saddened. And there is going to be a lot of hell for all of us to pay.

This isn't a sitcom or a video game, dude - it's real life and real life doesn't work that way. Especially when you've got politicians, namely Democrats, playing power games with our military.

I suspect that, had everyone gotten on the same page and stopped effing around with their pissant protests, peacenik garbage and BDS, the war WOULD be much more progressed at this point.

That whole run-on paragraph was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

"When's the war going to get won??"
"I'm not going to join Bush in some pseudo-patriotism!"
"How come it's not over yet??"
"Why can't we try some more diplomacy with the terrorists??"
"Why haven't we caught bin Laden??"
"Bush is a war criminal for allowing torture of prisoners!"

Make up your effing mind.

I know I'm old but I believe the Iraqi military was overrun in less than a week and last I heard Saddam was DEAD. Just what is your definition of victory? Our military didn't write the Iraqi Constitution. According to your definition of 'win' we lost in Korea, Japan, and Germany (btw, we still have troops there)

(if you worked you'd notice that Social Security chunk coming out, and it's only going to get worse)

I am sick and tired of paying for little boys (and girls) and their big toys.

Jerk off (or use a vibrator) to the peace and quiet of The Surge while you can, kiddies, cuz Sadr is just itching for the end of March, (the socialists wanted us to leave a year ago) when we finally exhaust what's left of our armed carcass and begin pulling back to rationality. (ah, yes! A country ruled by Her Majesty Queen Hillary with her 35 years of experience catering to the Chinese) I don't see a government ready to step into that vaccum, and I severely doubt Turkey and Iran are going to sit on their hands once we pull back to our bases again.

Take comfort, if you must, in the self-indulgent fantasy that "half the country" is silently cheering at the defeat of their nation's army, (naw, just you and Forestal) but I'm betting that the vast majority of America is embarrassed and deeply saddened (Don't count on it). And there is going to be a lot of hell for all of us to pay.

Wow! This is a classic product of our public school system. I really had no idea that so many Kos Kids were so ignorant of the workings of our government. Let this loon critically analyze our Social Security system or that bureaucracy in D.C. This person probably writes speeches for Murtha and "I got a paper cut, give me my third Purple Heart Kerry".

:lmao:

Great point!

I'm tired and an analysis would take some time. I'm not happy with the rules of engagement, let the military do their job. I'm not happy with the political situation, but that's for the Iraqis to iron out. I'm not happy with Democrats demonizing our military. I'm not happy with Republicans letting Democrats get away with that B.S. I'm not happy period and I'm tired.

...some heart. W may yet get Iraq through this and to a brighter future through shear dogged determination. He has made me throw a gasket with the way he has CIC'd this thing, but he gets huge credit for sticking to it.

Now, all he has to do is keep the hammer down.
