Do you give 10%????

Maybe it would just be easier to give the church 10% of the crop I don't have.

Ok... so many might not find that funny. But whenever we see tithing mentioned in the bible, it follows with crops and/or animals.

AM in agreement with giving money to charities. I would much rather give my money to St Judes (for exapmle) or shriners to know a child is getting much needed medical care for free, then to a church that already has close to a billion dollars worth of antiquities and art, or to one that has multi-million dollar "chapels". Before they come to me telling me how much they NEED my money, let them sell off a few assets and give to the needy like they have professed, and promised to do, AND put it on the books for proof of where EVERY penny of it goes. "Religion" is a safe place to sheer the flock of their assets as there is no need to balance the books. Nobody knows how much the major churches are worth, or how much in assetts they they have, we can only guess, and they have no idea where 100% of the money collected every year goes. If one or two major churches pooled their resources, they could end world hunge IF they wanted to!

This is partly why I'm an Independent Christian and also why I was careful when picking the ministry I tithe to. I won't name names, but some of the larger church organizations couldn't qualify for my tithe - probably couldn't ever.

Should you pay your child support before giving your 10%? Or give your 10% and say you can't afford to pay your child support?

My parents are Mormon and have always given 10%. They go with 10% of your net earnings (I have heard of some doing gross earnings but that's rare) so that would be before child support. Even the poorer people gave 10% and always claimed that as long as they gave, they always had enough to get by or better.

You cannot out give God what ever you choose to give. The tithe is 10% of your increase.

Deuteronomy 26:11-13

11and you and the Levite and the alien who is among you shall rejoice in all the good which the LORD your God has given you and your household.

12"When you have finished paying all the tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan and to the widow, that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.

13"You shall say before the LORD your God, 'I have removed the sacred portion from my house, and also have given it to the Levite and the alien, the orphan and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed or forgotten any of Your commandments.
I think these verses indicate that chartible giving (alien, orphan, widow) is also tithing. The Levite is the priest or minister of the church. I think that if you tithe your net, then you should tithe your tax return since that becomes part of your increase. If you tithe your gross, then you have already tithed the tax return. If you win at Lotto or have unexpected increase, property, money, stock market, then you should tithe that, too, as it is part of your increase.

Give as you choose. To believers, may God bless you this Chirstmas and all your life.

Depends on who you ask.. the church that wants your 10% or the judge that will put your butt in jail if you don't pay your child support? of course it's much better to go to jail for a month or two then burn in hell for eternity for not paying your fair share.
