I realize Tookie has changed his life and is doing "good" now but I think to commute his sentence is wrong on alot of levels. Suppose a child murdering pedophile changes his life on death row and says now he is against it, does that mean he should be spared? It would open too many doors, plus I bet the families of his victims don't really care if he "changed" on death row. Who wouldn't anyway?

The death penalty SHOULD be a deterent to crime. Folks too often use it to stare death in the face and upon the realization of "oh chit!", they change their lives around to make peace with whatever god will listen, and hope for clemency.

I think it's embarrassing that the SOB was allowed to live as long as he has.

Exactly. I'd hate to be anywhere near that city. But I'm curious to see if riots do break out, if it will only be seen in L.A. It's not like the only Tookie supporting gangs are in L.A.

Tookie even said himself that he feels no remorse for what he's done and deserves what he gets. He's just HOPING for better. It's complete BS that this many people support him living any longer.
