Next time, we will need to use heat-resistant paint. :jet:

More of the glowing type paint also. I liked the glow paint you used on :gossip:, but was kind of sad that the area you applied it to was sooooooo little.

I have been here since I was 2.
I married Navy.

I say I dont like it here all the time, but thats just because i'm a local. I love it here. Everything I have ever known is here. BUT next month I will be moving to my husbands home town, which makes Little old Southern Maryland look like New York.

The mall is about an hour away, but you have to get on I-40 to get to it. There is NOTHING to do down there, but I love it.

Home Is Where You Make It, So Make The Best Of It.....

I know nothing
Now what gets me the most, is comparing Va Bch to a city... I was born and grew up in Philly until the navy moved us. Philly is a city... Va Bch is no where near a city. When I lived there lynnhaven Parkway was even finished yet. I graduated high school from there.... not much has changed since then.

Only except the 100 other stripmalls that popped up since. Those dont count as a city....

You want city life, move to New York, Philly, LA or the hundresd of cities across the US. Then enjoy the polution, crime, homeless people and raising your kid around that.

I'm not from here. I love it here. I drive an hour and a half each way to work so I don't have to live in a "city". I live in a pretty rural community in St. Mary's and I have made plenty of friends - even with being a "outsider". I also seem to find lots to do, and never have enough free time to fit it all in. So I don't understand why people complain and whine. If you don't like it here, move. Simple. You are a military wife? - even better - MOVE - you still will get your rent reimbursed, your spouse can commute and you can live in the city of your choosing, and you won't be whining and throwing a tantrum about how you don't like your neighbors and your community.

You are welcome for me solving your issues.

BTW, may I suggest Anacostia for your relocation? I'm sure you will find it every bit as exciting as you could possibly want. Not to mention it is an up and coming neighborhood what with the new stadium being built in the area.

badgirl..that was really helpful...and positive. Instead of being rude about all of my comments you tried to be helpful..thanks!
I'm only being nice now because some freakin' f'tards gave me grief yesterday about being mean and stuff. I wanted to show my "kinder, gentler" side.

Seriously, though. There are a lot of fun things to do around here. Bronwyn has given some excellent ideas on interesting activites that you can participate in. Check out the Weekend section of Friday's Enterprise to see some things that you might consider fun. Get a subscription to Southern Maryland This Is Living - they have a great calendar of events of activities within the MD area to do. Also, check out the calendar section of SoMD.com. It is always being updated with things to do within Calvert/Charles/St. Mary's counties.

You might want to reconsider finding this on the base to do. Go to the drill hall, check out the pools, the gym, the bowling lanes, the fishing pier, the golf course. By all means, hit up the Solomon's Rec Center for more fun things. Walking the beach can be a great exercise in finding cool shells and so forth with the little one. Try to hook-up with some other mothers in your neighborhood for playdates for your kids. See.....there are tons of things you can do to entertain yourself and your family.
