One of the buzzwords of today and for the past generation has been "sustainability". The idea is that energy is derived from sources that can be re-created, re-grown, reproduced without damange or even, possibly, any change in the surrounding environment.
HOWEVER - what I am seeing is a lack of SELF-SUSTAINABILITY and mostly a trend towards utter reliance on sources we have no control over.
The left wants everything to be electric. But they're really not keen on people living off the grid - they want everyone ON the grid.
Ever watch a cop movie or show, where they need a witness to testify, and they profusely promise "we can protect you"? - and YOU know, because you've watched so many of them - "great, he'll be dead before the next commercial" because one thing they seem to be able to do is make good on their promises.
We're all to depend entirely on electricity, water, everything - entirely on the government, because they are going to take care of you. I do honestly believe that many of them believe they can and it is the best way to make sure everyone is covered. But here's the thing - when hospital ships go unused, infected people get stuffed into nursing homes, buses to carry people away from a hurricane are left to stand in water - when the government SERIOUSLY effs up and it costs people lives ---
How much do they care, then? Because the first thing they do is try to find someone they don't like to blame it on.
What we need? People to find a way to live comfortably in their homes with most of what they need WITHOUT some outside agent to give it to them. You know, kind of like, the Amish, except with more electricity.
