Okay, I finally have egg inflation. A dozen of the ones I normally buy jumped by $2 since last week.
I made myself feel better by going online and looking at the livecam of the field where the chickens who laid them frolic about and finding out more about the farm itself. Made me put that $2 into perspective.

Wholesale egg prices have ‘collapsed.’ Why consumers may soon see relief
Prices fell to $2.61 per dozen eggs on Monday — a 52% decrease from the peak of around $5.43 on Dec. 19 and a 47% decrease from the beginning of 2023, according to Urner Barry, a market research firm that specializes in the wholesale food industry. Its Midwest Large White Egg price benchmark is a widely cited barometer in the egg industry.
“Prices have collapsed,” said Angel Rubio, senior analyst at Urner Barry. “That’s a big, big adjustment downward.”

my 85 yr old neighbor who has been living on this street since the 1950's is grandfathered in ... my daughter at age 8ish used to go up and collect the eggs and feed the chickens ... she is 17 now

A permit? Permission to exercise a God given innate Right enshrined in the US Constitution?
It sure would be nice if you were to experience an event that absolutely shook you to your callous aloof incorrigible core which instilled the fear of incomprehensible harm to yourself someday to wake your woke mind. Then, and only then, would you learn to appreciate the guaranteed freedoms that others have fought and died for in which you have been blessed with being born in the US.

Back to eggs, paper thin shells don't mean much, I've gotten the cheap eggs from Walmart before that were hard AF to crack.
