Trump campaign files FEC complaint against Harris over use of Biden’s $91.5M war chest: ‘Fraudulent’
The Trump campaign accused Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday of engaging in “largest campaign finance violation in American history” in a complaint to the Federal Election Commission over her attempt to use political donations made to President Biden.
“Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash — a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971,” Trump campaign general counsel David Warrington wrote in a grievance to the FEC.
The complaint was filed against Harris, Biden, the 81-year-old president’s principal campaign committee – renamed Harris for President on Sunday – and the committee’s treasurer.
Nice first step.
About time they started using the system against Democrats.
Now the Red states need to start charging her with crimes, convict her and keep her tied up in litigation for a few years.
President Trump isn’t equivocating. He’s filing lawsuits. Last night, CNN ran a story headlined, “Trump campaign files FEC complaint trying to block Biden funds transferring to Harris.”
Trump’s campaign general counsel David Warrington filed the complaint yesterday. It alleged, “Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash — a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended,”
CNN noted that it’s unlikely the Federal Election Commission will act on the complaint until well after Election Day, given its historically slow pace of resolving enforcement questions. Well, it’s slow whenever claims involve democrats.
But in another plot twist, two days ago FEC Chair Sean Cooksey posted a citation to federal election law suggesting that donations to Biden’s presidential campaign must be returned to donors, not transferred to cackling selectees:

Harris Can’t Legally Touch Biden’s $100 Million Campaign War Chest, Trump Lawyers Argue
“Kamala Harris is in the process of committing the largest campaign finance violation in American history and she is using the Commission’s own forms to do it,” the complaint alleges.
Candidates for office must create a campaign committee which includes their name, and file a statement of candidacy designating that committee as their fundraising vehicle. Harris did neither. Instead, on Sunday, the campaign treasurer “amended” Biden’s statement of candidacy to swap his name with Kamala’s, and pointed to Harris for President as her committee, using the same ID as the Biden for President committee. It also filed amended paperwork changing the name of that committee.
“There is no provision in federal campaign finance law for Kamala Harris to take over Joe Biden’s candidacy now by quite literally attempting to become him via an amendment… and making off with all of his cash,” Trump’s lawyers say. “Ms. Harris’ actions constitute a massive excessive contribution from Biden for President to Ms. Harris.”
I don't think this will work but its nice to see a Republican playing the same dirty tricks Dems have used for years.

“Democrats got their shotgun wedding, but we’ll be cutting the honeymoon short,” MAGA Inc. CEO Taylor Budowich told the outlet in a statement.
“Kamala Harris is currently only known as a failed and unpopular Vice President who knifed her boss in the back to secure a nomination she couldn’t earn, but voters are about to learn, it gets worse,” he added.
The buys will be in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania markets. Politico reports that MAGA Inc. has one forthcoming ad that will hit Harris on immigration and another that will zone in on her record as a prosecutor in San Francisco.

The group released an ad Tuesday morning, casting Harris as “dangerously liberal,” less than 48 hours after President Joe Biden dropped out and she became the front runner.

Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, 51, is in the running to take Harris' job as vice president should she beat Donald Trump in November.
Harris has so far requested materials from Shapiro as part of a vetting process that includes several governors of swing states that could be an asset to her efforts.
But a Pennsylvania Democrat who will be on the ticket this November is accusing Shapiro of being involved in a cover-up and even made a shocking prediction regarding how he might wreck Harris' campaign.
Erin McClelland, the Dem nominee for treasurer in the state, has caused an intra-party fight after her tweet Tuesday night endorsing North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper to be Harris' running mate.
'I want a VP pick that's secure enough to be second under a woman, is content to be VP & won't undermine the President to maneuver his own election & doesn't sweep sexual harassment under the rug,' she wrote, referring to Shapiro.

Trump Didn’t Back Out of the September Debate — Joe Biden Did
The wording of the statement, using Obama’s middle name and trolling with the recent chaos on the Democratic side, is very Trumpy. But it’s dishonest for Democrats and their media allies to act as if Trump is backing out because he is quaking in his boots about the prospect of Harris.
Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall posted, “Prez elections are a series of performative moments about power. At critical moment he showed weakness and fear.”
That’s a bit rich given that Trump was literally just shot and got right up a minute later to raise his fist before the crowd.
The reality is this. Trump agreed to two debates with President Biden, which involved negotiations and concessions to the Biden team. Then, Biden did so badly in the first debate that he was forced to quit the race. Once he was no longer a candidate, that was the end of the September 10 debate. Now, there will have to be negotiations with the new Democratic nominee — presumably Harris — over the rules and timing of the debate.
