The market for used EVs in Norway is totally in the shitter. My son wants to sell his Model 3 because his third kid just arrived and he needs a "soccer Mom" car. Had it advertised for fire sale price for a couple months now and no offers..
Maybe GLHS will buy it.

Norway is because they played stupid games with their grid power and caused the cost of charging to jack up.

And here's one reason domestic EVs besides Tesla are sitting..... The big OEMs have just blown it.

GM had a deal with Honda to sell rebadged GM EVs. Honda bailed due to what they saw.

VW had a CEO who got it. They fired him. Now they has this guy.... They can't even write the friken software they need.

Nobody wants to buy a used battery that the previous owner may or may not have abused the hell out of. A lot of people feel the same way about an ICE used car, but most things on them are fixable for a more reasonable price.

They have to do a battery exchange program where you don't have to drop more than the price of a pretty good use ICE vehicle to just replace a battery pack. The fact that BEVs are almost worthless on the used market also increases their cost because when you want to trade or wreck it etc you get nothing out of it. I have a 2006 Tacoma with 196,000 miles that cost $24k new and I could sell it at the drop of a hat today for $12k, probably wouldn't even last a day on Craigslist for that.

I think I would crap if this happened.

Or just maybe you, being a smart person, would have read the fricken owners manual. Or even used the in car digital copy to search before going nuts. At what point do we expect people to at least make an attempt to understand the machine they are operating? The below is right out of the owner's manual.

Note
The thermal system may produce steam under certain conditions for vehicles with heat pumps (to determine if your vehicle has a heat pump, touch Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information). For example, odorless steam can come from the front of your vehicle while charging at a Supercharger in cold temperature. This is normal and not a cause for concern.

You can say "Open Owners Manual" while sitting in the car and type steam into the search block. Might even be able to ask it to search the owners manual for steam.

Or you could use the voice command "Search Google for 'steam while supercharging'" and get the following results. I mean, again, ferfuxsake, if you can't be bothered to RTFM, then what happens isn't the machine fault, but yours. Let's be the fans of personal responsibility in ALL things.

Keep a comfy chair in the frunk.

It’s an even better read by the flickering fire light of the burning EV.

But nothing burned, except this guys face when he found out how much of an idiot he was. Hopefully, but most likely not. Funny how the people who proclaim that personal responsibility is a hallmark of a mature human being give idiots a pass when it comes to stuff like this. :)

Maybe a nice shiny new law that requires you to study your new cars owners manual and take a test before you drive home is the answer? Does Ultra-Fuxking-Maga Kyle want more laws to protect the idiots from themselves? Or should we point and laugh at them? I choose the latter.

Go right ahead. I'm sure they don't care. :) 10% market share this year, a 2% growth over last year, so pretty soon it will be a full time job for you. :)

Hell, Tesla alone is on track to sell over 1.8 million cars for 2023. That's a 37% increase over last year for the "OMG, EV sales are tanking!" crowd. :)

When was the last time you read a cars owner manual? When was the last time you had to?

Should I demand an owners manual in every rental vehicle I get with government travel and read the 300 pages before leaving the lot?

When we got the wifes 2020 BMW. And I did, there's a lot of tech in there.

No, but if you are getting an EV as a rental it does behoove you to either refuse it, or do some fam time before driving away.

But in this case, with a Tesla you don't have to ask anyone for anything, its literally built into the cars infotainment system. You can literally hit the microphone button and say "owners manual" and it will appear on the 13 inch display screen. Complete with search block like any PDF. Or say "Tesla streaming while charging" and get the answer from google in 30 seconds.

Or in the app you need to have on your phone to operate the car.

I get it if you don't want to bother, that's fine, choice is good. But if someone buys one and cannot be bothered to learn at least how to find the owners manual, then my sympathy meter never leaves zero. But they have literally made it easier than any other owners manual Ive ever seen. Paper copy in the glove, digital copies in the car and on your phone.

So to rent one you have to have the app on your phone? I'm assuming make an account also? Ugh

For a rental, no. And no account. They gave me a keycard. Not optimum, as some functionality is not available. Supercharging was still seamless though, as the car belongs to Hertz. Back in, point cable at the door, press button, door opens, plug in, grab a snack or relax in the car. Charges go right to Hertz, who add it to your bill. And unlike tolls, there's no lag and no "passthrough" charge from Hertz on the electricity fee.

Downside of only having the keycard though, with the app you can set the car to precondition the cabin to your preferred temp at any time from anywhere. Given I was in Jacksonville in June, being able to tell the car I wanted it 72 inside 10 minutes ahead of leaving would have been nice. With the app, the car senses your approach and unlocks it it for you, and locks up when you walk away. The card, you need to hold against the pillar for the NFC chip to register. And place it in the right spot inside the car.

Yeah and like 6% of all vehicle sales.

Still grasping at straws I see.

God I absolutely hate proximity keys, not an EV issue, but an industry issue I have. Thankfully I have a keyfob/switchblade key for my new vehicle.

Got to say you are fanboying with Tesla. You know my position, I do not think they are junk like others do, I just think they have to tailor the user experience to be more like ICE vehicles for people to accept them, Toyota was very in on that for their hybrid experience.

I think this means charging mats in garages where people don't have to plug them in.

BTW it could have been another Tesla owner, that never had a heat pump sitting beside a charger that could have been alarmed, If the possibility existed for steam to come out of the car, that should have been a warning on the I-Pad on the dash. I don't think people that don't drive that vehicle should be responsible to read the manual to know what was going to happen. Imagine the owner went into the store while it charged, someone that didn't know called the fire department only for the owner to come out to the fire department tearing the car apart.

Are you going to lecture the fire department about reading the Tesla manual for that model that has the heat pump? This is why I see that as unacceptable.
