Hey some of those are actually pretty cool. Have you tried all the places around here that would take some one with your education??

*Body Guard (rumor has it JPC has received hate mail from the Dems and needs some prophylactics,, I mean protection)

*Border Patrol Agent (from the VA bridge to the Pg county line... Yeah, I'd pay you to do that)

*Probation & Parole Officer\
*Juvenile Court Counselor / (Goodness knows there's plenty of tardvicts around here)

*Public Safety Officer (to control that ROWDY summer concert crowd )

*Victim Services Specialist ( the Women's Center on GMR might take you on as a volunteer and then you could work your foot in the door)

*Sheriff (Shannie0308 in '07 :peace: )

I have a friend that has been actively seeking employment in the Lexington Park area for a year now. He has a Bachelor's degree and clean history, but hasn't been able to pick up a professional job. Do you think its a who you know atmosphere around here instead of what you know? Most people tell him that he didn't get the job because of lack of experience. I had the same problem when I was actively seeking full time permanent employment. Answer me this...How in the world do you gain experience besides learning and applying yourself in the classroom if you've been going to school full-time? I see people with no experience and NO education get great jobs because of someone they know. Just isn't fair. :smack: It almost makes you feel like a degree is just a piece of paper.

Sometimes its who you know, sometimes its experience, but usually its what type of degree you have, and experience..

He has no related job experience to his degree. He's been working full-time temporary jobs. He's looking for an entry level finance analyst job.

Tell him to apply for the BFM Intern for the government.

It's a serious question.. Depending on what ihis degree is, determines if it's worth the paper it is printed on. Did he take a hard course of study, or did it he take the easy path so he could party more?

If he had a degree in EE.. or CS and few others (WITH a decent GPA). he would have no problem finding a job here. If he has a "dime a dozen" degree, then keep on looking.

I don't see how asking someone what their degree is in is childish.

When you state things like "basket weaving" and "film studies", I do find that quite childish.

That is funny.. was going to add to my post "and I'm sure if I researched it, I could find a college somewhere that has a degree in Basket Weaving!!" but thought my point was already made!
