Forgot to add;
Your donation helps the San Francisco Zoo connect people with wildlife, inspire caring for nature, and advance conservation action. Won't you help support this important mission?

Wonder if the family can individuals that donated themselves can deduct all medical costs, etc. as a donation to the Zoos goal of connectiong people with wildlife?

And what about the poor man that died, can all that be a write off too?

(Before the zoo gets hits with 3 mega lawsuits....)

( I would change that mission statement if I were the Zoos PR firm!!!)

Last update.. they think the three men were actually taunting the tiger.. when it escaped it hunted them down.. found them in the cafe.. and WHAM...

They think the Tiger escaped because it was being taunted, and then ran them to ground..

I heard that this morning - that they were investigating reports that the men had been tormenting the creature moments before it escaped:

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Police are reportedly investigating whether the young men mauled by a tiger at the San Francisco Zoo taunted the animal, a possibility the father of one of the victims said Thursday he hoped wasn't true.

"I don't think my son would do something like taunt animals," Carlos Sousa told ABC's "Good Morning America." "It's unbelievable, but only the evidence can prove that. And right now I can't say much."

His son, Carlos Sousa Jr., 17, was one of three men attacked by a Siberian tiger around closing time on Christmas. Police shot the 300-pound animal to death after it killed Sousa and severely mauled two brothers who also were visiting the zoo.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, police found a shoe and blood in an area between the gate and the edge of the animal's 25- to 30-foot-wide moat, raising the possibility that one of the victims dangled a leg or other body part over the edge of the moat.

The Emergency Room doctor said they only needed their 'scratches' cleaned and bandaged. One Hell of a mauling, huh?

Sounds a little more than that:

The two injured men, 19- and 23-year-old brothers from San Jose, were in stable condition Wednesday at San Francisco General Hospital. They suffered deep bites and claw wounds on their heads, necks, arms and hands, said Dr. Rochelle Dicker, a surgeon. She said they were expected to recover fully.

Sounds like the guy was inside the fence dangling his leg over the wall and the tiger leapt up and used his leg and body to climb out of the cage. Then he killed him and his friends made it 300 yds before the cat caught up with them. Probably the fastest 300 yds they'd ever done. They need to protect the animals from the people better. They were all doing what is in their nature. Teenagers acting stupid and tigers taking out the slower, weaker, dumber or more foolhardy of the pack.

"Police shot and killed the tiger as it was mauling one of its victims, who survived."
I wonder what they shot it with, as S.F. has banned all firearms.:sarcasm:
Ed

If you were really wondering, because I really was, they shot it mulitple times with their handguns, .40 cal.

If that is the case, then we might have a new Darwin Award winner!:roflmao:
