"WASHINGTON - What kind of weather will the region see this winter?

ABC 7 Meteorologist Bob Ryan says it could be another "year of extremes."

"I think we're looking at a winter with some active storms. I think we're looking at, with the pattern that we see... several cases of pretty ferocious nor'easters," Ryan tells WTOP. "

Oh great. Worst thing for me is a nor'easter. House sits 30' from water's edge on NE corner of the property facing open water to the NE........the shoreline erosion is always fierce...pier often suffers damage...ick ick

Worst storm for me of the last yearly cycle was a vicious nor'easter, not Irene.

Well, I hope it doesn't end up being a bunch of hype over a bunch of near misses like we usually get. If it's going to be winter, then bring on the snow. If it's not going to snow, then just fast forward to April.

:huggy: it must really suck to have to live on the water like that.

There are times..when it does indeed. Nothing like watching waves breaking against the foundation of your house to make one pucker up a bit...:killingme

If I could just elevate the whole place about 3 feet, land and all...

When the view from your front window looks like this...

Are you on Thomas Rd?

I have a dream... that one day.... folks of a southern to DC Maryland location will realize that our area is unique in the amount of factors that play into the end result of any given weather event... factors that cannot be fully predetermined nor can they be consistent. That is my dream.

Hmm. That might explain why we got 4" of snow on the island when at the same time they got 18" in Callaway, during the 'big one"..:killingme

Yep. Just like the winter when we were all looking out the window at over a foot of smow and smow still falling yet on TV all the DC weathermen were complaining that the storm was a bust and they only had flurries.
