Expired Driver's License

All Up In Your Grill
Glitch, I realized that mine had expired the day of my birthday. I frantically tried to get to MVA that afternoon when I realized my boo-boo, but didn't make it in time. I went the next day and got a new license - no questions asked.

I wonder if your insurance still covers if you get into an accident without a valid license? that would make you an uninsured motorist and we condemned all those people to Hell in a previous thread ....lol

Interesting question. I don't know the answer to that one.

My thinking would be that if your insurance premiums AND your vehicle registrations (tags) were up to date, you'd still be covered under your insurance in the event of an accident. However, you may NOT have insurance after the claim has been processed...

You wouldn't be an uninsured motorist - just an unlicensed one.

Does my butt look big?
Anyone happen to know what the fine is for driving on an expired license? I just realized mine expired a few day ago and won't be able to get it renewed until Monday. Just trying to figure out what I'm looking at if I do get pulled over. Thanks!

I just did this...was a week late... $30 no added charges..

Not according to the state police. Don't know where you're getting your information.

Dont know who you talked to but they are wrong, I am a Police man, so I know you can be arrested, I see it all the time, doesnt mean you will just that you CAN. Its like this if the license is expired it means you have NO license, thats how YOU can be arrested.

I spoke with the the officer on duty at the Leonardtown State Police barracks. He told me it is a $60 fine for driving with an expired license and that I couldn't be arrested for it, so there was no need to worry.

I'm sorry but I have trouble believing you're actually a police officer, so I'll stick with the information I know came from a reputable source.

I do not believe driving with an expired license is the same as driving without a license. I do have a license, and I carry it on me, it just happens to be expired.

Thanks for your permission to make my own decisions, I'll do exactly that. And for the record, he was a Sergeant, not a desk clerk.

thats fine maybe I will be the one whos stops you and hauls you to the cross bar hotel and then you can say Im sorry, Come to court some time and see for your self if you dont want to beleive a stranger on the net, better yet if you see a road police man ask them, they are the ones out running calls and making the arrest.

What would be your reason for pulling me over?

Actually, I'd love to have you arrest me for driving on an expired license. Then I could sue you and your department for wrongful arrest.

From: http://www.courts.state.md.us/district/forms/criminal/dccr090.pdf

Transportation Article 16, Sec. 115, Para. f

Violation: Driving vehicle on highway on expired license.
Fine: $60.00

And you do not have to appear, which means no arrest.

You really need to brush up on your COMAR if you're going to be playing a cop on the internet. Idiot. :killingme
