I've got a few friends that hunted squirrel. They said it was great.Operative word is "claims". Gilligan is the only person I "know" that admits to eating squirrel. He eats lots of weird stuff though.
Both.Hunting them or eating them?
I've heard hunters that swear the squirrel barks and chatter keep deer away and I've heard some swear that it helps by causing deer to pause and remain still offering a good clean shot.So there's a squirrel eater's thread online and someone wrote in that he kills squirrels because they're a nuisance during deer season. Why is that?
I've heard similar, but with birds. When they change to an 'alert' voice, the other animals actually take note of that and become defensive, and most times flee.I've heard hunters that swear the squirrel barks and chatter keep deer away
Squirrel, rabbit, muskrat, raccoon, deer, bear and on a westpac cruise dog and monkey. I can add a lot more if we start adding birds and reptiles.Operative word is "claims". Gilligan is the only person I "know" that admits to eating squirrel. He eats lots of weird stuff though.
Not that much different than beef, however, take care in cooking it as its usually very lean and tends to dry out fast if you're not careful.I wouldn't do any of that unless it was in a grocery store BUT having said that, the commissary is stocking a lot of bison products and the meat looks like what you would want in a hamburger say - you know the right color. How does it taste?
Used to trap for extra money when I was a kid. Grandpa's rule was if you kill it you have to eat it. Not everything was truly good, but the majority of it was. The monkey and dog was just because sailors do some stupid thing when drinking. Why though? Just to say you ate it or was it curiosity?
They are great. Mom knew how to cook them various ways. Sometimes just fried like you do chicken.I've got a few friends that hunted squirrel. They said it was great.
Out of this list bear is the worst, it's greasy and smells spoiled fresh out of the bear.Used to trap for extra money when I was a kid. Grandpa's rule was if you kill it you have to eat it. I've had all those except for ostrich. Ate some Emu though. And moose..moose is great. And ground hog! We had an ancient black fella that lived in a log cabin in a holler on our farm..he sorta "came with the place" when my old man bought it. He claimed to be a descendant of the slaves that were owned by the original family that established the farm in early 1700s. Anyways..he made sure we knew to not throw away any ground hogs when we got em and darned if it didn't turn out real tasty.I've had Venison, Elk, Bison, Rabbit, Ostrich, Duck, Quail, Gator, Rattlesnake and Turtle.
It's called "fresh"Still moving??????
Sure do! Cooking is very optional in Korea and China...LOL.Do people eat octopus raw? I've had calamari - tastes like rubber to me - I guess if I ate rubber. But real octopus legs, not the ring parts?
Not any more...lives down in southern VA with my sister. Folks sold the big farm in the 80s...so it was a long time ago. I'm overrun with squirrels here on my island property, but it's not quite a big enough piece that I consider shooting 'em safe enough to do.Is she local?

I've got a love/hate relationship with octopus. I hate that I love it because I always wanted a pet octopus.Do people eat octopus raw? I've had calamari - tastes like rubber to me - I guess if I ate rubber. But real octopus legs, not the ring parts?
