Have you ever eaten any of that stuff?
Other than the usual beef, chicken, portk & veal - I've eaten Bison, Elk (in Wyoming!) Venison, calamari (fried only!!) OH, and gator tail which, like GW says, does NOT taste like chicken. It's fishy and just gross.

I am not a very adventurous eater. :yay:

Back to the fall/winter meals - if it snows this Saturday, I am thinking of sausage lentil soup. Or maybe chili!

That sounds really good - I hope I feel ambitious this weekend.
Sausage Lentil soup is really easy! Vrai posted her recipe here a number of years ago, and my sister used to make it, also. This might be a hybrid of both:

Sausage Lentil Soup

1 lb-ish of hot Italian sausage 1 tsp. salt
1 small onion, chopped 2 tsp. black pepper
3 cloves of garlic, chopped 1 tsp cayenne
2 carrots, chopped 2 tsp oregano
2 stalks of celery, chopped 2 tsp basil
3 cans of chicken broth 2 tsp thyme
2 cans of diced tomatoes OR 1 Tbsp parsley
substitute 1 can Rotel
2 cups dried lentils

Squeeze the sausage out of its casing (if it's links), brown and chop in decent sized chunks, but not too big. Drain the fat if there's a lot, otherwise a little fat never hurt anyone. Then dump everything else in the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.

Adjust all of the ingredients to your taste!

You were in the wrong chow hall then. All the Navy chow halls I ever ate it were awesome and don't even get me started on the Air Force. Especially Bolling - OMG - I forget what they call it when they a huge chunk of beef that they cut in front of you - that was available three times a week, chicken fried steak - best I've ever had available every day, huge salad bars....
No, he was in the army. Ever watch Mash espisodes? :lmao:

That bad huh? Gawd those AF guys - seemed like they had everything. I seldom got breakfast there, but the times I did - every kind of breakfast meat you could possibly want, omelets made to order. Nobody cared much about healthy food back then.
Not their fault you joined the wrong team.

Yeah Chow Halls are great, the Army does not live in Chow Halls .......

50 miles from anywhere getting your Hot A served off the back of Deuce and a half with the Mojave Desert blowing across your dinner plate

you learn to eat what's slopped out ... or have another MRE

I LOVE this weather - working on a tan without all the heat, early mornings have been clear and cold, sleeping with the windows open and best of all - stars, something with alcohol, and cold enough for flannel pj's outside.

Recipe looks good - did you see the one for pork chops with Dijon underneath it?
I'm fine with the weather so far, but 20's/freezing/windy, not so much. Even though we didn't have much of that over the actual winter! I already have my Pj's picked out for tomorrow :jet:

Yep, the recipe underneath sound yummy too!
