False Claim of Maggot in Steak

get over it

the story is completely false. i was there that night and what happened was a piece of rice was mistaken as a maggot and instead of waiting to speak to management or finding the truth, the 4 people irrationally walked out on their rather large sushi and drink bill, which is overdramatic and illegal not to mention. what makes someone think they have the right to walk out on such a bill just because they think there was something in their food? they don't have the right. typically when you think something is in your food you want to speak to a manager or get your money back. you don't walk out on the bill and then start false rumors. everyone in this county knows asahi for their good food and environment. to even think that a maggot would be in their food is such an exaggeration. loyal customers of asahi know this rumor is completely false. how can someone mistake a piece of rice with a maggot when rice is cooked on the grill along with the meat. obviously a drunken mistake or a easy way to dine and ditch.

Yeah well, you're restaurant has still gone in the crapper. The service sucks pretty bad when the server doesn't even know what hashi is. And what's that stench?

Hey man, I didn't know they served THAT at Asahi! What time do they open, man?

I think it fair to say that whatever Asahi's current problems may (or may not) be, they are temporary and I hope they won't kill the place. I'm all for variety here in the County, and I've always been a proponent of success for local restaurants.

And the attitudes of the kids at the fast-food places down here make me NEVER want to patronize their establishments (once had a McD's cashier ignore the drive-up - because she was on her cellphone).

You just can't get good help these days at any price.

Pssttt... rumor has it that the reason McD sucks so bad is that everyone there is on a work-release program...

We eat at Asahi a LOT, and about the only thing we have ever experienced that was 'bad' was I ordered the wrong sushi (i.e., didn't know it would be too gross for my bland taste), and there is one waitress there that is in a perpetual funk. We have tried overtipping to the point of ridiculousness, in order to get better service next time (like I said, we go a lot), but it doesn't work...oh well. At least the food is good.

That's strange...I've never had a problem with service at Asahi, but one of the many reasons that I don't like to go to Monterey is their poor service.

Same here. the few times that I was at Monterey, the service sucked and the food was usually warm at best.

I love Asahi, never had a problem there. The food has always been outstanding and the service has always been awesome! I guess I'm at an advantage for not knowing what hashi is, or any other japanese words for that matter.

The one thing that I have noticed is that over the last couple of years at Asahi, the steak and filet serving sizes have decreased substantially.

I even eat with a fork there, and they're ok with that.

I don't know why, but it seems that at least in this area, they take laziness to an entirely new level, almost an art form. They make it seem like even just speaking, ANY language, takes just too much energy and they just can't spare it. I was _ just THAT close today to telling the girl at Mcdonalds that in order to speak, she has to actually MOVE those big friggin lips of hers! I got so tired of saying "excuse me"? Drives me up a friggin wall.

I usually go to Arby's if I do fast food and that was today. :duh:

There is one young lady who works the drive-thru there that I absolutely love. She speaks loud enough and clearly, repeats your order so you can verify what you ordered, tells you what your total is, and always says 'please' and 'thank you.' :yay:

I love how some fast food drive-thrus have a screen where your order appears and how much each item is and the total.

It is all G. Bush's fault

If it wasn't for the way the economy was running right now, where the local unemployment rate has been below 4% for the past couple of years, the service industry could find some people who would appreciate having any job. And then the service industry wouldn't have to hire the lazy.

I could not agree more. I wonder how much of their food was consumed before they walked out.

We had hoped that this matter had been laid to rest, but apparently not. Please disregard the previous forum that spreads this false rumor. Thank you again to all loyal Asahi customers- we truly appreciate your understanding and patronage.

I have worked with several people on work release and they always work hard and love to come in on saturaday. If they get fired they have stay in jail all day:smack:

The reason Macdonalds Sucks is cause the owners do not distill the proper management ethic in their managers. When you go to MCD's anywhere else they have reasonable service but not in the county? Why? only the top performers can get in on the one on base?
