I have"nt done to much posting on the forums, since joining. But I feel so bad about what I saw at the Farmers Market today I wanted to share. We go there often to get veggies and me being a die hard animal lover like to see the puppies, and other animals there. It"s usually the same Amish there week to week with their puppies, and they have gotten much better about the way they are treating them. This older Amish man sells his out of the back of his wagon, and today he had 3 long hair pups look to be a mix of shepard and ?in a crate a piece of cardboard on the top for shade. That was the only shade!A small group of people noticed about the same time that one of the pups looked out of it.And was saying that the pup needed help or was going to die..and they was going to call the cops.I reached in and took the pup out,but he was smart enough to have laid across the water bowl and had his front paws in the water. He was definitly uncomfortable from the heat and I told the Amish man to please move the pups to some shade or they would be sick .He moved the crate under his wagon which was better..we circled around after getting our veggies and he moved the crate back out and up on some baskets so at least they was getting some air movement, and the pup at that point looked to be doing better.I have done nothing but think of those pups ever since and wonder if I should have done more?..but what.I"am going to get in touch with animal control..I guess I"m looking for feed back (that is not nasty).Like I say I love animals.Selling them there in this heat should not be allowed if you can"t provide shade, and then its still hot.So many are stuffed in small crates with their long fur and maybe have water for them, and in some cases the water was dirty. It"s sad to see what these pups go thru.I hope in the end they get good loving homes.

That is disgusting and upsetting. I don't go there much at all but have seen people selling puppies and letting their kids hold them all wrong and stuff. I'm sure animal control is aware but I would call them anyway and let them know what you saw. Those frikkin Amish are bad with their treatment of dogs. Like you said hopefully the will get good homes.

That's pretty funny that you call GL "nasty" for his rather limp criticism, then proceed to unleash a torrent of projective abuse on him. :roflmao:

Just fyi....the Amish and Mennonite communities believe in "God's will"....if those puppies were meant to survive, they will....they do not treat their animals in the same way that "modern society" does, they believe that animals are just that, animals....they treat their animals the same way at their home

I'm sure that animal control knows what is going on up there, and everywhere else that the Amish/Mennonite communities practice business and/or live....Animal control(and the state which funds it) is not as concerned about those dogs as they are about stepping on the religious beliefs of the Amish/Mennonites

If you were so upset and concerned of the well being of those puppies, why didn't YOU purchase them and get them out of there?

YOU were the one that came on a public forum and posted that you felt sorry for those puppies and yet you did not take them out of that environment....YOU were the one that felt compelled to come on an internet site and accuse someone of animal cruelty that has no way of defending themselves(the Amish/Mennonites don't have internet)....YOU are the one that wants someone to put aside their religious beliefs in order for YOU to be happy....and WE are the ones that are starting things.

If I come to your place of work and see something that I don't like and you refuse to comply to my way of thinking, can I bad mouth you behind your back and expect everyone to back me up?

Thats what this forum is for right?I"m not bashing anyone, I was stating what took happened in a public place. And I was not the only one that felt these pups was in danger.I could not take that pup out of therethat is called STEALING.I did what I could and asked the man nicely if he could move the pups to some shade. Why are u bringing religion into this. And people talk about people behind their backs at work places all the time. It"s part of their jobs.I expect no one to back me up...mine is just like yours an opinion.NEXT!

And probably never will....such a waste of the last half hour of my time....I have a headache now

No kidding! It is weird having to look up at her now.

Zman is the same way....seems like a couple of months ago, I was looking at the top of his head and now I'm looking at him eye to eye

Went to an othropedic surgeon last year and the doctor told me that the prediction was going to be between 6'2" and 6'4" when he is done....I'm gonna need to stand on a chair to look him in the eyes :lmao:
