Did you soak them in water and throw them on the grill?

:yum: doing this tomorrow

if you add a little salt to the water, the flavor will come out of the corn a little more....or....add sugar to the water and it will be sweeter

To the OP, I've seen the exact same thing at the Farmer's Mkt and it is sad. It's definitely NOT how I would treat my animals, and in some cases with the cramped cages and no water/shade. It surprised me a great deal. People complain about Pet Shops (I'm not a fan either) but at least there is A/C enivron. provided. Yes, I was disturbed by what I saw at the F.M., too.

I go up to the CHFM all the time and I never see any puppies. Where do they usually keep them?

There's an area that is toward the back/mid area where some of the "permanent" stalls for vendors are located. The empty lot area just in front of the vending area is where puppies, kittens, chicks, etc. are. I even saw a tiny goat in a small dog kennel.

Same here... unless they are in the trucks up front, I don't notice but then again, I rarely venture to the back of the market... I usually get my fruits and veggies and leave.

Ah. :yay: Like Dakota, I've never go back that far - just get my veggies and leave. I'll have to scope out the puppies next time I'm up there.

Thank you...Maybe a few of us that do care can make a difference.I'll continue to voice my concerns for a child or animal that is"nt treated properly. If thats wrong so be it,if it saves just one then I'll be happy.

Yesterday there was 2 goats cramed into a small crate.I guess someone wanted to buy one and they was trying to get it out , buy putting a roap around it"s neck and pulling it out.The little goat was fighting this person and crying ..the sound broke my heart.I think I"m going to have to stop going in that area.

I understand what you're saying. Not only have I seen puppies out in the heat there, but I saw cages full of chickens in the blazing sun as well. They all were panting with beaks open. Very sad. It's important to mention that it's not only Amish who sell animals there. The people I saw there before with the puppies were not Amish. I do agree that it is disturbing and sad to see animals treated that way.

When I was there recently, a woman was walking around where the puppies were, holding a cute little Yorkie. She was obviously trying to sell the puppy but she didn't have a stall there. She was asking people if they wanted to hold the puppy, which looked incredibly hot/tired. It was a darn cute little puppy, but I think this lady was basically roaming the F.M. area approaching folks, "do you wanna hold him?" and trying to score a sale this way. So, basically where the animals are, you have folks set up with cages, etc. to sell their animals and a few straggler-like characters parading around with their pets. It's almost a circus-like environment back there.

Thats what this forum is for right?I"m not bashing anyone, I was stating what took happened in a public place. And I was not the only one that felt these pups was in danger.I could not take that pup out of therethat is called STEALING.I did what I could and asked the man nicely if he could move the pups to some shade. Why are u bringing religion into this. And people talk about people behind their backs at work places all the time. It"s part of their jobs.I expect no one to back me up...mine is just like yours an opinion.NEXT!

Because their religious beliefs are the factor here. In their opinion, everything is up to G-d.

Medical care for humans, much less for animals, is not something that happens. It is survival of the fittest for reals.

It has nothing to do with how we "English" view the world, babying our animals and deciding how to protect and defend, with medical care, and a/c and so on. It is up to G-d as to whether or not they survive without these things (which they do), as it is up to G-d as to whether their animals survive.

IMHO, stop looking at the Amish animals for sale. I don't. I know that they do not vaccinate, de-worm or any of the half a million other things that we expect. Even if you were to get an animal there, it has a low chance of surviving / not infecting your other animals / etc.

I do not concur with their belief system, but it is their right to live that way. You have to accept it/ignore it.

I was trying to simplify it for the OP. Maybe she thinks Amish just means they wear funny clothes, not that their way of life is based on a religous belief.

We cannot expect the Amish to believe as we do. At least as long as this country remains a republic that was founded with an eye towards religious freedom. And personally, I'm thankful for it.

Even if you did clear up why religion was brought into it for her, I doubt it would make a difference. Poor animals, yes.

But we can't forget our own poor gene pool.
