Never said all..but a few years back they put a passervative in vaccines. They were loaded with Mercury. Most states have banned it now! BTW, the amish don't vacinate their kids. And there has never been a case of an amish autistic kid.
:BS:

Amish communities are rife with genetic diseases, as well as Autism.. now if you said none had been diagnosed, or none had been treated, a LITTLE more believable.. but saying the Amish have NEVER had an Autistic kid is just ignorance. Amish family has an Autistic kid, why would they care? DO they want him to socialize? No.. do they want him to learn to do Calculus and go to law school, NO, they'll just find something he can do for the community (rake horse stalls for example) and he goes untreated.

and the Amish not vaccinating the kids is BS too.. or do they hide their polio ridden kids in the hayloft??

Ride through ANY AMish village, and you'll see them sitting on the side of the road, in front of mom and dad's store.. Then get out of your car and walk.. They've never been diagnosed, but it's fairly evident.. I'm not saying EVERY amish community is overrun with it, that's not the case, but there are a few cases out there.. Deafness on the other hand is rampant in the Amish community in certain parts of the country.

Prove it Bob..the deafness thing anyway! You can't. It's fairly?

The deafness thing is actually easy to prove.. like I said take a drive.. and park..

The deafness comes from a limited Gene pool.. there are only SO many Amish families, specially in a closed community. They don't travel often so the gene pool doesn't get any fresh blood.. The bad thing is, genetics kicks in.. and one of the "not so bad" birth defects Amish are getting is deafness.. an inordinate amount of deaf people in the Amish communities.

The PDH and CDC identified 89 Amish women from Lancaster and surrounding counties as having a rubella-like illness during pregnancy. Vaccination histories were available for 51 of these women, one of whom had a history of prior rubella vaccination. Of the 89 women, 18 (20%) had laboratory-confirmed acute rubella; for 31, specimens were insufficient for analysis (i.e., recent rubella infection could not be verified or excluded); and no specimens were obtained for the remaining 40. In addition to the 89, routine prenatal testing identified five Amish women who had serologic evidence of acute rubella, none of whom had experienced clinical illness.

Kinda shoots down your theory of NO amish get vaccinations.. finding ALL kind of data on Amish deafness.. trying to whittle it down to one statement

STRASBURG, Pa., March 29 - A study of Old Order Amish children has identified the genetic mutation that causes a previously unknown disorder, with seizures that progress to autism and retardation

So far, from sources inside and outside the Amish community, I have identified three Amish residents of Lancaster County who apparently have full-syndrome autism, all of them children.

A local woman told me there is one classroom with about 30 "special-needs" Amish children. In that classroom, there is one autistic Amish child.

Another autistic Amish child does not go to school.

The third is that woman's pre-school-age daughter.

Just in the one county!! That kind of shoots a hole in your Amish have never had a case of Autism theory..

Then you have no clue what you are talking about. You have no experience, I have seen first hand how adhd med's help, without "drugging" the kid.

LOL..read what you wrote!

Tom, you really are being an ass with this topic. She most definately implies that though her kid may be medicated, her kid is not in a drugged stupor.

My son is medicated so that he can make it through school, he isn't drugged to the point that he is a zombie, I wouldn't allow it. My son deserves the best in life and he deserves to go to school and all of that and if a pill helps so be it.

Mine isn't either "drunk" drugged either. There are many medications out now for ADHD, unlike years ago when they just maxed out ritalin dosages and turned kids into zombies. And typically pediatricians start out on the lowest dosage and work their way up. Every kid is different, as are their symptoms. What works for one might not work for another, and sometimes you have to go through trying a couple medications to find the right one that works for your kid and their symptoms.

Being an adult that believes I had ADHD I must say I believe there are other ways. Im over 30 years old and still have trouble concentrating on one thing at a time. Dont laugh but I took a page from the Vulcans (yes Star Trek) and force myself to sit and meditate and think of one soothing thing.

What drugs do is alter the body chemistry, this can lead to cancer down the road, all sorts of liver, kidney, and central nervous system problems.

Stay away from chlorinated water too. :jameo:

There are other ways, but unfortunately, not everyone responds to various treatments the same way, and not everyone has the same levels of ADHD. I most certainly have Adult ADD, but choose not to medicate myself because I don't want to become dependent on a drug to lead my life. Fortunately though, I am able to control it without outside help. I know some people cannot do that.

I read that -- if left untreated as a child -- ADHD makes grown adults join forums and have avatars with bouncing boobs. I don't want that happening to my daughter. :frown:

Seriously ... any medication you take -- aspirin, tylenol, heart burn, blood pressure, heart meds, asthma, etc., has possible side/long-term effects ... Motrin can eat away at your stomach lining over time. But we still take it to alleviate our symptoms. People with psychiatric disorders take mental meds to regulate their chemical levels ... why is this so much different (worse) to people than anything else?

Also, as an adult, I imagine it's probably easier to control ADD/ADHD symptoms because you're more aware, educated (hopefully) about things and can recognize the signs you need to slow down. Kids don't have that down yet ... that's part of why the medication at a young age is helpful ... it's helping them to stablize and learn their symptoms so that as they get older, they are better able to control themselves. While some people will take the medications for the rest of their lives, not all do. Just depends on the person.
