From my time in the military, when we only had women in admin positions (mostly S1, some in S2, a few in S3, and so on) and medical to a certain extent, the straight ones were looking for the mid-grade officers or staff NCOs.

Basically, they were looking for the Chads, and didn't have the time of day for anything below an E-6 or a O-4.
