Feral Cat Problem

:yeahthat: After having to put Timmy down because he got bit and infected with Feline Luk and Feline HIV I am unappologetic about running them off or shooting them.

Yeah, I'm worried about that too, and rabies. I used to let my old kitties outside when I was in the yard but the orange tom attacked my old white kitty within 50 feet of where I was working. Now they are strictly indoor and they want to go out to nibble on the grass and roll around on the patio so bad... :frown:

The black feral tomcat is the one that tangled with a skunk in my garage when it got sprayed! That skunk was rabid I'm 99% sure since there were quite a few other reports in the area.

This has gotten beyond nuisance since I can't even keep the garage doors open anymore without them getting in and messing with the garbage or spraying the boxes I have stored out there.

I told hubby on the phone this morning to do the deed when he gets back and just don't tell me about it. I'm quite happy being in denial about it and not having the details. :lalala: Hopefully the ferals that move into their vacated territory eventually won't be so bold.

That's actually very good of you. Men have been trained for nearly a generation now to not just deal with these sorts of problems as they obviously should be; :bang:

So, you've set his conscience free. May not sound like much, but, you did a good thing. :buddies:

My hubby grew up on a working farm, there isn't much he can't or won't do. He won't enjoy it but he will take care of the problem quickly and efficiently. He didn't do it before because I was feeling sorry for the feral kitties and asked him not to.

I told hubby on the phone this morning to do the deed when he gets back and just don't tell me about it. .

Part of the joy of the deed, is the associated bragging rights that come with doing it.
You are cutting your husbands primal experience short.
Please sit back an listen to his story of how he tracked and fought hard against these killer cats.

Should have seen pan ladies face the night I lost it with the coons in the attack and fired off a shot through the bedroom ceiling.
priceless I tell you, just freaking priceless. well worth the new shingle.:killingme

Used to live down the road from a dairy farm in VA. The owner came by one night and over some home made booze he offered us $.25 a tail for cats shot at his place.
We found that if while driving by a cat, when you slam on the brakes it will freeze in place while the tires are squealing. We also found that trying to shoot while falling over in the back of a pickup was difficult so we drank heavily proir to all "cat hunts". The drinking didn't help our aim, but it made the overall experience a lot more exciting.

Picture half dozen very drunk, heavily armed young men blasting away at a freaked out kitty on the side of the road while getting slammed around the back of a pickup squealing to a stop.

.22 Lr to the grape. Clean quick and humane

We've got two of those now. I like the pump action one best.

Feral cats

Sonsie --

There is a reason the cats are coming to your yard, and it's probably not to pester your cats through the window. Killing or removing them will not change that, and chances are new cats will move in if something happens to the ones currently in place.

You might think the cat people are crazy, but thirty years of research proves that they are right -- Trap-Neuter-Return is the only effective solution when it comes to feral cats.

Please do not let your husband harm the cats. It's not only cruel and unnecessary but will prove ineffective in the long-run. The best way to keep the cats off your property would be to use some kind of deterrent, such as an automatic sprinkler, ultrasonic cat-repellents, et cetera.

You can find more information on keeping the cats away here.

Here is a listing of some of the groups that may be able to help you.

500 rounds of .22 LR = $28.97 from the Sportsman's Guide.
How much for your automatic sprinkler, ultrasonic cat-repellents, et cetera?

.22s are about $3.50 for a box of 50 rounds at WallMart.
Bury them in your flowerbeds, they make good fertilizer.

Why do some people think it's OK to feed and support an invasive predator species?
