John Fetterman to spend ‘weeks’ in hospital over depression: aide

It’s been hard for staffers to tell whether the 53-year-old Pennsylvania Democrat has been unresponsive in recent weeks due to hearing loss from the stroke he suffered in May — or because he’s in the throes of despair, the aide told NBC.

“[He’s] not hearing you or is he sort of crippled by his depression and social anxiety,” said the aide— adding that staffers were surprised by the severity of his depression.

The potential weeks-long mental health treatment won’t impact Fetterman’s ability to do his job in the future and his resignation is “not even on the table in any sense,” the aide insisted.

I can't help but wonder what he shares with his wife and friends. Probably whatever fleeting semi coherent thoughts he might have.

The Headlines on Fetterman's Latest Health Crisis Are Truly Unbelievable

And while I’ve been hard on Fetterman’s wife, he ultimately bears the responsibility for choosing to remain in the race. Still, some in the press are now claiming that he has been “forced” to contend with the effects of his debilitating condition, while serving the political firestorm that is Washington, DC.

No one forced Fetterman to do anything. He’s not a bystander who woke up one day and just so happened to be a senator. He pursued this, he mislead his voters, and now he’s suffering the consequences of trying to do a stressful job that he can’t handle.

What truly blows my mind, though, is that these are the same press outlets that reported on Donald Trump walking down a ramp slowly and holding a glass of water with two hands, as if it was grounds for forced removal from office. Meanwhile, they pretend that Fetterman is just fine and shouldn’t resign despite how obvious it is that he’s not going to recover. The hypocrisy is off the charts.

I’m beginning to wonder if we are to have ANY minimal threshold for our leaders. We have an unquestionably senile President, a VP so inept her own party doesn’t want her there, a cabinet full of weirdos whose only qualification seems to be they ticked off a box - and now at least one Senator we knew from the primary was not able to do his job.

The excuses remind of DC days and Marion Barry. How bad does it have to get before the Dems expect more from their leaders? You wouldn’t hire a babysitter to be this bad.
