Fights with school kids?

Apparently my daughter told her to shut up after the other girl who was not dressed for PE class kept yelling insults at her during some game they were playing. The girl then apprently said to her other friends that she was going to show my child when they went inside. Interesting also is that there is no supervision in the ladies locker room for that class.

Teach your daughter how to use a fist full of rolled up quarters......

That sounds premeditated to me. I'm glad you are going to follow though with legal action. The other girl obviously has issues and maybe going to court will help to get her counseling as well as punishment. I am speaking from the opposite side of the fence. My son attends PHS and he had a problem with another student trying to "bully" him (funny considering my son is 6'2' and 175#). My son went to a teacher several times to complain and yet nothing was ever done. Finally, my son got tired of the boy's BS and one day my son clocked him at the bus stop. The school decided not to suspend my son (they could have) because of the situation BUT the kid’s parents pressed charges against my son (2nd degree assault)!!! So at court we explained the situation and they ordered the other kid to get counseling!!!!

Not dead yet.
Here's an update from the alls-well-that-ends-well department.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that my little munchkin got in trouble for punching a little boy in the arm after he intentionally whapped her in the head with a notebook.

I told her (mostly kidding) that this meant that he likes her and wants her attention. Something she denied and denied. Now it's a few months farther along. Lo and behold: about once a week she tells me about something nice this kid has done for her (helped with an assignment, playground sharing, stuff like that).

Wouldn't it be nice if life would stay as simple as 3rd grade?

Only had one fight in school. Got my azz whooped because I never saw it coming.
I was walking in the hallway between classes, when I was shoved down from behind. Next thing I rolled over and there was a kid on top of wailing away at my face. I was too disoriented to know what was happening until a teacher pulled him off. Luckily I was able to deflect most of his punches and had no injuries except for a few scratches where I had been knocked down.

He was set off because I asked him for my notebook back which I had let him borrow the day before.

School policy, even in those days, was to suspend both students. But I was on good terms with the dean, had a spotless record. They suspended him and sent me back to class. He didn't bother me anymore. But then, within a few weeks, I grew about 6 inches (good timing for a growth spurt I guess), and I think he was a little scared.

But man, I wish I'd seen him coming. I would have give him something to get upset about. I'd had a few scuffles outside of school hours (usually at the ballpark), and I always came out ahead.

When I was a kid, I was taught that I wouldn't get at trouble at home for sticking up for myself. Didn't mean I wanted to miss school though.

If you know your kid's teachers, and he/she gets suspended for defending him/herself, then it should be a simple matter to ask the teacher for "extra credit" to make up for any material they missed, especially if your kid is well-liked by the teachers. I think most policies don't allow teachers to give make-up work for suspensions, but they don't say anything about extra credit.
