Fights with school kids?

Ok here goes per Mr. assist principle, my child was not at any fault after all parties involved were interviewed. No consequences for her. The other child will face school punishments ( could not get details due to privacy issues) the Deputy who is assigned to the school is supposed to contact me to see if I choose to file criminal charges. So I guess I will have to talk with my daughter to decide if that is an avenue to pursue.

TigerLily, I'd bee sitting outside the principal's office right now if I was just told he/she was too busy to talk to me.

All this reminds me of a story I heard...

This kid got suspended. I'm not sure how old, 10 or 12, I think. She was in the foster care system, so she wasn't some latchkey kid, left to her own devices, she was in daycare before and after school. So already foster mom is ticked, not only because the kid is out of control, but she's got to pay extra for daycare while the kid is on suspension.

Well, the daycare provider isn't real thrilled with the kid either. I think she kinda took it personally that one of her kids was acting out. So, she tells the kid, "this isn't some vacation. If you are going to be here, you are going to work." So she makes the kid clean her house, scrub her floors, stuff like that. (She'd already told foster mom this was the plan, and mom was all for it.)

So, kid gets ticked and calls her case worker. Who knows what story she told the case worker, but case worker calls the daycare provider. After hearing her version of things, tells her to keep up the good work. :yay:

The kid swore never to get suspended again.

Many good points to that H_n_B. The key is that there has to be action taken on all fronts. In this case the other child will at most end up with a 3 day vacation. So if Mom & Dad or whatever guardian in place is not there to reinforce that it won't stop. This is why I believe Elaine's point about pressing charges is what we have come to. With all the privacy issues involved we no longer get the kids and parents together to discuss the situation. My child does not even know this kid's name. So am I to take the chance that she will change her behavior or would it not be best to teach a much more severe lesson via the courts to maybe keep her out of jail as an adult.

My response woulda been: "Um, excuse me Mr. Assistant Principle, but MY CHILD has been assaulted by this hood rat. I don't give a patootie about any darn "privacy issues". I want to know what is being done by this administration to protect my child from this miscreant, and I want to know it NOW!:armscrossedfoottapping:"

For real. If this kid punched out someone at a bar, would the bar owner refuse to let the victim know what action was taken because of "privacy issues"?

I always take that as code for "We don't intend to take any action but don't want you to know that because you'll accuse us of not doing our job."

That's another reason to press charges. The school has to adhere to privacy, but the police tell you everything the "hood rat" (I love that) is getting.

The only thing that seemed to impact school was the restraining order. The kid had to stay away from my daughter.

Lockdown was after school hours. An officer drops by and checks on them once or twice a week, they have to be in by a certain hour, stuff like that.

DANG! That is pretty strict. Thanks for clarifying it.

Little Miss Hood Rat was arrested today for assaulting my child. So she not only will have to deal with expulsion from school but a trip to court as well.

These people have to learn. And the sooner they do it, the better off they'll be.

Yes indeeed. Hopefully those little metal bracelets clasped to her wrist will be enough of an experience to change her ways.

The most important thing is that my daughter is ok. Just a bump on the back of the head and a few scratches. Her pride is probably a bit worse off though.

I'm glad your daughter is okay. What made this other girl go off?

Apparently my daughter told her to shut up after the other girl who was not dressed for PE class kept yelling insults at her during some game they were playing. The girl then apprently said to her other friends that she was going to show my child when they went inside. Interesting also is that there is no supervision in the ladies locker room for that class.
