Foxy "the BOY" is amazingly cute!

This boy has really come a long way with having been so skinny at first. He has medium length hair and about 1/3 of a normal length tail, and he's so affectionate. He doesn't mind being picked up either! His color is buff/beige.

I will post updated pictures of him soon because he's looking much more fluffy and he's bigger now that he has gained weight and filled out. Here's what I have for now. Sure would be great for Foxy to spend the holidays in his new home.

I wish I could take him, but I have a dog and four cats. There's barely room for me in the house!

He is so people interactive that he should be one of the easier ones to find a home for.

He was eating some dry food and Smokey came over to get some and Foxy put his paw on Smokey's head as if to STOP him, and Smokey backed up a step or two to WAIT LOL Foxy is half the size of Smokey, so I just laughed!

Foxy is looking much healthier now that he has put on some weight.

He is looking so much better, must be the good food and great attention he's getting. I hope you can find him a home soon, he is so pretty, I'm sure it wont take too long.:howdy:

I had an inquiry via FB from a guy who is local here visiting relatives. He wants to take Foxy back to another State with him. Not sure about that. Leaves no room for an easy "return" if it doesn't work out, although I have a friend in Western FL that maybe could handle it for us? Hmm?

So, I get a response from my classified ad here, and a lady adopts Foxy yesterday. I explained how to ease a cat into a new home by putting them in a cage/crate large enough for them to have a litter box. She asks about a separate room - I say sure but how does the cat get used to other pets, she says she can put in one pet at a time. Ok at I say that could work. I said some people just put the pet in the house and wait for them to adjust. I said people handle it differently.

She lets him out of the carrier at home and he hides under the recliner. Then later sends me email telling me he's feral and she doesn't want him. I was holding him and she took him from my arms and put him in her carrier, that is not a feral cat I told her. She is asking me to take Foxy back, says she can't stand to see him suffering like that being scared, and she will wait until Spring and get a kitten instead. I warned her that cats can hide and some do it for days/weeks. I suggested how to handle it and she didn't do that.

I am having a hard time understanding how someone wanting to help a rescued cat would change their mind so fast because the cat didn't just walk around like it knows the place right away? She seems like a great adopter otherwise. I can only hope that Foxy comes out and is friendly with her fast so she will back off the "return him immediately" part and see how great of a cat he is.

Can I just scream now?

Ive had the same thing happen to me. People come in to adopt a cat/dog and you explain to them how to introduce them to the household, how to crate train the dogs, introduce cats to other cats. They dont listen. They expect the animal to come into the house and act like its at home. Very rarely have I seen a cat get comfortable right away especially if its not a kitten. People are just aholes sometimes.

Well in this case this lady was suffering emotionally due to the loss of a kitten due to a heart problem. The kitten had a buddy kitten left behind. The buddy kitten was crying and looking for the buddy that was now gone. So she thought if she found her lone kitty a buddy (Foxy) that all would be well. So in this case she was trying to facilitate a faster orientation for Foxy so he could help the crying kitty that was lonely.

Poor Foxy was scared of her and the other critters. He would have warmed up to her in a few days I am sure, but she didn't want to wait, for reasons that are unknown to me.

I got Foxy back from her the next day and offered her back the $100 adoption fee that she paid. She was kind enough to let us keep the $100 adoption fee. I really was not expecting that at all. I really felt she would have been a great home for Foxy, and I still feel that way.

I have another home asking to try Foxy. They think Foxy may be part Manx due to his short tail. I am apprehensive about letting Foxy go to another home so soon. I'm sure I'm just being a worry wort, and should let him go this weekend?

I think he will be fine. I just got a new foster this past weekend that we got from another rescue and a lady has already inquired about taking him home this coming weekend. That will be 3 places in just over a week this little guy would have been. These people just need to understand that it takes time for kitties to adjust.

I thought Foxy was going to be one that is easy to adjust to a new home. He didn't seem particularly frightened of me when I got him. AND that same day he met me, he let the vet staff poke and prod and take blood, give vaccinations ... they said he was WAY more tolerant than most other cats they handle.

I like it when the critters move on fast, before I get attached to them. We've had Foxy for 5 months now - wow.

Maybe something about that home he did not like?????? I agree, the longer you have them, the harder it is to see them go. My longest was about 8 months and i raised him since 5 weeks.

What do you think about the next potential home thinking he's a Manx mix? If he isn't will they not want him?

I don't know that much about Manx cats to know what to look for really other than a short bob tail. Foxy seems to have a longer tail than the Manx pictures I've seen.

From looking at the pictures, it does look like he has a pretty short tail. Manx i think have rounder faces and short legs. If he is, hes definately a mix. Were these people looking specifically for a manx?
