You could place a .22 cal case (not cartridge - don't want any live rounds going off because of heat - electricity does cause heat) or other metal object or aluminum foil or the like between the fuse contacts, but that would not be a good choice. The fuse blew for a reason (something caused smoke). If the fuse socket is just shorted or a higher capacity fuse inserted, you will probably get more smoke and then it will be a matter of whether the foil or object used to short the fuse terminals melts before the wiring harness turns into a gigantic toaster and possibly ignites and burns up your car.
.22 caliber Long Rifle round works WITH the bullet in it.. and even if there is a short it won't set the round off, the wring harness in the car will burn up before the bullet goes off.. NOW, put a .22 LR round in a down vest chest pocket with a nine volt battery, after a few minutes feathers will be flying everywhere..

I was walking around a gun show (i was 15 at the time) in Concord NH.. when I heard a pop, and saw feathers floating around my head.. I THOUGHT I had been shot by somebody fiddling with a loaded gun, until I found the shrapnel in what was left of my pocket, along with the battery.
