Gas Prices

The Democrats’ new narrative is that soaring gas prices are all Putin’s fault.

For some reason they think none of us NOTICED that gas prices have been soaring for a YEAR. They’re even on record making comments about it as early as last March. Last summer they were accusing oil companies for price gouging.

YES, the war is the cause for the spike in the last month. As long as it continues it WILL GET WORSE.

But we’ve had runaway inflation for a year. Gas prices hovered just below three dollars - up a couple bits - once Joe assumed office until it crossed that threshold and remained. We’ve been discussing supply chain, empty shelves, high gas prices and inflation all year.

I know the Democrats modus operandi is to promise the moon and find a scapegoat when it doesn’t materialize. Seen it my whole life. EVERY Democrat administration has gone on at least a two year tear blaming their predecessor. At the Congressional level they propose things and blame Republicans. At the national level they blame racism.

What they DON’T do - is fix the problem. Some are slowly coming to notice.

But this Putin blame game is laughable if it weren’t all over the liberal news media. Americans can be really dumb but I really don’t think they’re this stupid. We mock Russians for ignoring the rest of the world and believing their government but this is hardly different.

Believe this government?
No way.

I don't believe the media, the so called faucci Scientists, the Press Secretary, the President, the Representatives in Congress, Pelosi and her 1/6 committee, Who can possibly believe Schiff a man who's name is synonymous with Sh*t. The examples of untruths are as recognizable as the sun.

After Larry and Peter asked each other to suspend the upcoming automatic gas tax hike, the Legislature puts the blame squarely where it belongs... the greedy oil companies.

The legislature created this mess by tying the gas tax to inflation. They chickened out just raising it a few cents and thought they were being clever.

Does anyone know what the tax increase will be July 1st if allowed to go thru?

So 6% of the current 37 cent tax per gallon or 6% of $4.50/gal? 2 cents isn’t that bad. 27 cents is unacceptable!
I don’t know exactly what they’re basing it on. It was something I heard on the radio on the way to work.

At this point I just threw my hands up in futility at the price.

I have seen the emails from Matt Morgan on this subject. I have read the letters from Hogan to Franchot on this. No one mentions an amount. Which tells me it may be only 2 cents meaning a lot of bloviating over nothing. But I don’t really know.

I have heard 6-7 cents.

“While there appears to be continued disagreement between the Governor and my office – and the Attorney General’s interpretation of the law – on whether or not I have existing authority to suspend the automatic increase to the gas tax set to go into effect on July 1, one thing is for certain: the executive and legislative branches have unquestionable authority to prevent an 18% increase to the gas tax – from 36 cents to 43 cents – from taking effect,” Franchot wrote in the letter. “This amounts to a new, highly regressive $200 million tax on Maryland families and small businesses.”

So basically we all have to wait until July 1st to see how much the increase actually is.

Sounds familiar.

7 cents more gas tax is not going to hurt me half as bad as the 10 cents a day price increases we have seen int the last month. You wake up and gas in $4.39 that evening it is $4.59 and raising.

Went to BJ's just a little while ago, They had lines waiting to get gas,. but 4 pumps were not busy, but they were on the wrong side for my tank filler. So I went around the back and entered from the back.
The little old lady in the booth came out and told me I couldn't buy gas there because I was facing the wrong way, that I had to wait in line.

I guess waiting in line makes sense to some people when there are 4 pumps not being used. but it didn't make much sense to me.. She told me that they had extra long hose on the pumps so that i could drag the hose over my car and fill it. I am not too happy going to the other side getting the hose and dragging it over my paint to get filled up. Anyway rules is rules. She was just doing what they told her to do,but Damn ,stupid rules piss me off.
