What's going on with the gas prices ? When are we going to put a cap on it ?
I think everyone should STOP buying gas (JUST FOR ONE DAY), and just what are people suppose to do when they can't afford to buy gas........Calvert County gas prices are now worse than Rockville. This is really a bunch of bull..

And what? Everyone not go to work and earn a living for one day? Have you been watching the news? Have you seen the condition of the refineries? Unfortunately, there's not much we can do and it looks like we'll be paying high gas prices for months to come.

Stick it out and hope for the best! :yay:

Refining capacity, as well as production, were disturbed by that recent storm that hit the Gulf Coast. Companies are hedging the future costs already by shifting the burden to the customers. A one day boycott won't be a drop in the bucket for them as they know they are the only games in town and we all need them.

Hopefully other forms of fuel will now be considered viable, like alcohol and biodiesel.

There was an email going around not to buy gas on SEPT 1, 2005 (Thursday) I guess to try to get the prices down. The email was going everywhere not just Maryland.

The gas companies don't care if you boycott tomorrow, because they know that you'll either buy today or Friday.

The only way to really make a difference is to reduce usage long term. If it won't really inconvenience you, it's nothing more than symbolic. Our society tries to take the easy way out - symbolic protest, online petitions, etc. - instead of actually making the effort to effect chnage.

Hawaii has capped state-wide wholesale prices at $2.65, leaving retailers to charge whatever they want above that. The average right now is about $2.76-$2.80. Maybe the states all need to start capping the gas price. The government could help by decreasing or freezing the tax for the short term. This is not a supply-side problem. We've had hurricanes in the gulf before. We have had wars in the Middle East before. This is price fixing on a national, if not global, scale.

Gas in Dunkirk was around $3.15 this morning a coworker told me. Wawa in Calvert (not sure which one) was about $3.05.

I wasn't aware of a WaWa in calvert unless there is a new one in Dunkirk or something, I thought the closest one to calvert(besides St.mary's) was on 301 on the way to Crofton?

October gasoline has risen $0.75 since Friday, an increase of 38%!!! That means that we could be seeing as high as $3.80 by October if something isn't done.

I passed several gas stations this morning between Charlotte Hall and Upper Marlboro coming to work, they all went up. WaWa Charlotte Hall up 8 cents from yesterday to $2.65, this was at 5am, maybe up more now, but from my observation's the gas stations run by SMO (Dash-Ins)were really gouging the customers some of those went up 20 cents overnight, and were from 12 cents to 25 cents more then the other stations I passed. They have got to be making a great profit at our expense.

But at least the oil companies are enjoying record profits. So there is some good news there.

Maybe they'll get another tax break.

That usually trickles down into cheaper gas.
