But at least the oil companies are enjoying record profits. So there is some good news there.

Maybe they'll get another tax break.

That usually trickles down into cheaper gas.
Not surprising that someone would turn this into Bush's fault, since he controls the entire world oil market. I'm sure Clinton (either of them) would have the whole thing sorted out by now. :yay:

Time for a nap
Just heard on the news that there is no question that gas will hit $4 a gallon before this is all over.

That I don't doubt. Even with tapping into the oil reserves as Bush is doing, that is only going to partially relieve the prices rising and can only be done temporarily. Unfortunatley, it's going to be months and months before oil service in the Gulf area will be restored. Gas will be over $3 a gallon by the weekend and probably over $4 within two weeks. :ohwell:

Well, I'd like to know where you inferred that I thought Clinton could solve anything beyond figuring out a way to get his johnson wet.

And I never said that Bush was in charge of the global oil market.

Don't paint me as a goddam liberal just because I don't like the gas situation, and I believe that it CAN be fixed but ISN'T.

So what did you mean then? How would you FIX the problem? Create a Socialist state? Federal control of the oil industry?

Thats a no brainer if you consider the fact that what you pay for gas is Taxed to death.
Lets just say 50% of the gas price is taxes.
50% of $3.00 is sure a lot more than 50% of $1.00
Gas ,Tires Cigarettes and Alcohol are Taxed to death. The Government, more than likely makes more money than the manufactures on these items.

As far as the oil refineries in the gulf. That's a sorry azz excuse.
We have 3 just in Richmond VA And another dozen or so in PA and if I recall there is also one in Baltimore. This isn't even counting the ones spread out through other states like TX, OK and CA.

The real picture is the Government is creating revenue through raising Gas Prices.

Yeah I caught the part about the WaWa in Dunkirk in someone else's post, I was trying to figure out if your daughter paid $3.41 in PF, is that what you are saying?
If so ouch!
