You'll survive. I'll judge the "neighbor" for myself, regardless of what people say.

I've never met her, and just started talking to her.

Yeah, that's always worked well in the past. :duh:

Please get to know her at HER place, and don't come crying to me when the novelty of having your very own liberal pet retard has worn off and you are the laughing stock of St. Mary's County.

You could do a lot worse. She's a very nice person. :yay:
I'm sure she is. I simply have no desire to be neighborly. I don't speak to my current neighbor's why should I start a new trend?

I've been helping her, that's all. I'm not looking to 'bed' her. And she has not been overburdening.

In this day and age of the Internet, why do people still speculate and make up numbers instead of just doing a little research? I found this link in less than one minute.

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp

So let's not say the 50% of gas prices are taxes. However, the 19% that is taxes (fed, state, and local) could certainly be temporarily reduced. Also, the market fixes the prices, not the government, so how is the government creating revenue again?
50% was just a round figure ! 19%, 21% It doesn't make a difference, the point remains the same.
I hope your not that naive to think that the Government doesn't control the market.
In 1987 the Government shut down all oil production in Texas and put American oil on reserve, do you really think that was the markets idea ?
That put thousands of people out of work.
I was one of them and I left Texas in 1987 and moved here.
So please get a grip and don't try to tell me that the Government doesn't have control over the market.
Farming oil ,farming produce or tobacco . The government tells them how much they can grow and control what they will charge for it.
Ask any farmer or any one that has worked the oil rigs.
Government control ! :spank:

Now I like your web link. However oil is like any thing else .
The gas stations paid Taxes when they bought it,then the gas stations selling it pays taxes on it , then the person buying it pays taxes on it.
So your figure on your link only showed the taxes you paid for a gallon.
We are getting closer to that 50% mark.
Now lets add in import taxes, because it is imported.
Oh yes and lets not forget that it was taxed when the market or who ever bought it and sold it. Then it was taxed when it was sold and bought to the refineries. No not all oil refineries own tankers ! Then the refineries were taxed when they sold and paid taxes on there profit , then too the depots and more taxes.
So exactly how many times were taxes paid before we paid 19%.
And you don't think the Government has any control over this kind of money coming in  Your funny !

Yes, the Government has always had control over the market, through exercising non-Constitutional powers to control those markets, always in the "best interest of the U.S. population".

Federal Government taking care of us poor, stupid dolts.

Its 11:00...we'll take this up tomorrow....

Go, gas, GO! Damn, I should've bought some Exxon stock :ohwell:

Anyway, this is temporary - once they get everything back on track, prices will go back down.
Temporary :lmao: :lmao:
It's at $3:42 for the cheap stuff in DC right now.
Yea it will go down about 10 cents. Just like it went down during the BS gas shortage that didn't really exist either.
While I waited in line for gas to go to the beach. I thought what BS because every time we went to the beach there were thousand of oil tanker waiting to drop oil off, which they would not let them. So after about 60 days of waiting, some of the tankers dropped their load right in the water and went home. Long Beach California"s shore line was coated with oil and all the thousands of people who helped clean it up asked the same questions.
Why in the hell are we not letting these oil tankers drop their loads if there is a fuel shortage ..... BUSTED !
Did fuel go down then ..NO
Is it going to go down now... NO
Why should it ! We pay less for fuel than any other country in the world. Except for maybe Iran and neighbors.

Someone made an excellent point on the radio show I was listening to on the way home tonight. Supposedly gas prices have gone through the roof int he last two days because of Katrina-caused shortages, right? Well, this guy's observation was, wouldn't there be a lag time? Did all the gas tanks suddenly go dry all at once and had to be filled at the higher prices?

So, basically, we're being price-gouged by the gas stations, not the oil companies or trucking companies.

Exactly, and if gas stations don't make any money off gas anyway... what the hell do they need to raise the prices for? Supply fears my azz... Either way, supply or not, they don't make money off it and they don't need to raise prices.

There are all kinds of Federal laws on the books about price gouging, during war time and catastrophes.

Which tells me that price changes are being controlled from a lot higher up than gas station owners or oil corporations.
