Same concept will soon apply to houses. Take the current electric bills as an example. We are paying about 20% more today per kilowatt than we were a year ago. If memory serves me correctly, there is supposed to be anothe 20% increase again within the year followed by a 10% increase the year after that. It will take practically another mortgage (in money speak) to keep a large house lighted and comfy.
I wish I could :lalala: this.

Don't forget to ask the question "Is it posssible that the current Iran hostage situation has caused global oil prices to spike?"

taxes on gas

Did you know the government makes more on a gallon of gas than Exxon does? How do you feel about that? Exxon did all the work and all the government did was put a tax on it.

The government has to pay for the global warming. Is there anyway to sew the car manufacturers and oil companies for glabal warming? we did it to the cigarette companies1

Well, don'tcha know - the prices you're looking at on the big boards represent "Oil Futures".

Which means the current market forces don't mean dick when it comes to what you pay for gas.

Free market my ass.

energy costs

if the bills are gettig to be too much, decrease the use of the energy. drive less. turn the ac off or to a higher temp. if cold put on more clothes. turn light off when not using them and take shorter showers.

I have turned my lights off and switched to the compact florsesnt and my electric has gone down significantly.

Sew them what?

A sweater? An afghan?

Not sure how useful that would be considering how hot it's getting.

I don't see what the fuss is about. I put $10 in my Geo Metro on 1 March and topped it off with $19 more this afternoon. If everybody quit driving 70 miles to work and back each day (and be able to sit home and collect a retirement check like me) we'd all be happier. Being able to grow older does have a benefit, well at least one.

If this issue matters so much to you, maybe you should learn a little bit about how it really works. Your theories and suppositions show true ignorance.

You can't be serious can you?

Is is the car companies, and the oil companies fault that people use more energy than they have to?

Just curious what kind of car do you drive? How much do you drive a week?

As a scientist I find the global warming/ CO2 correlation arguements weak considering that the earth goes through natural cooling and warming cycles anyway, but even assuming they are spot on you can't hold car and oil companies accountable for your addiction.

Uh anyone know why we're paying so much for gas? I do. The local government raises gas prices because of profit. They don't want to stop making money off of it.

She does have a point (whether or not she knows it) at least in Maryland, gas prices are regulated, remember the story about BJ's and Wawa having a gas war in Lexington Park and the state stepped in and fined them both for underselling gasoline
They can't sell it for less than cost.

Uh... yeah Maryland REGULATED the cost of gasoline.

Maryland Regulated that WaWa (or Sheetz, i dont remember) and BJ's had to sell their Gas at a specific Price.

Actually they "regulated" that ~all~ gasoline stations cannot make retail sales to consumers below the wholesale gasoline price. This was an effort to protect consumers from the predatory business practices of these larger fuel dealers who could then force smaller competition out of the marketplace and eventually control the entire market.
